The Alhambra

This is a site you would not want to miss because of its grandeur and historical significance. This palace has been named the most visited monument in Spain, with over two million visitors in 2014. That's even more astounding when you consider the rest of the country's sites.

Nasrid Palaces

The Nasrid Palaces, undoubtedly the most well-known component of the Alhambra, were the formal palace of the Moorish monarchs of Granada. This section alone has a number of elements. Various sultans that occupied the Alhambra throughout the Moorish period of Granada began to add various royal houses to the palaces, completing them into the iconic complex that we know today.

Generalife

The tranquil gardens of Generalife stand in stark contrast to the bustling castles and towers. While still popular with visitors, it's difficult not to get a sense of inner serenity and tranquility as you walk through this lovely natural environment.

The Alhambra was one of the biggest highlights of my trip! The large site makes it a place you can spend hours exploring. In particularly I really enjoyed seeing the Nasarine Palace (which requries you to book beforehand). In addition, the Alhambra offers very good views of Granada and the surrounding areas. You can get to the site either by walking (it's a long, steep walk to the entrance) or by catching the bus from the city centre.

Beautiful place to visit. Thanks to the audiotour in Dutch. We stayed a whole day, it was not to crowded.

The Alhambra is altogether amazing but the Nasrid Palaces are breathtaking - not to be missed. Highly recommend the tour with audio guide because you can go at your own pace. When large guided groups appeared we waited for them to move on and continued our tour at our leisure. The audio was descriptive, evocative and informative. The Alhambra information personnel were so helpful and welcoming. Just make sure you know your entry time for the Nasrid palaces and arrive well in advance to orientate yourself and allow for queues - we joined the queue 15 minutes before our entry time and there were no problems. Don’t forget your ID - they do check this. Astonishingly beautiful and historic.

We loved Alhambra but very unhappy & regret having bought the tickets at three times the price from Viator!! There was confusion to the last minute in getting the tickets!!! There was no value added for which we paid instead of 19€ /person we were charged by Viator 62€/person & I wonder why this over charging! I thought it was because of audio guide but upon arrival realized audio guide is free download included in the 19€!! When complaining just got a bureaucratic negative response from Viator.

Just got a ticket at twice the normal price. There was no audio guide and no instructions where to pick up the tickets. You surely can do better

Unfortunately Viator did not indicate that a time for the visit would be assigned randomly. Ticket indicated all day visit but for the palace we got assigned 11am spot and we were arriving to Granada after noon. We missed our visit, we were able to go to generalife and the alcazaba but not the palace.

We booked what we thought was a guided tour of the Nasrid Palace, given the price of it relative to the ordinary admission fee. We received an email saying our guide was going to be Hannah Bowen, so we thought we would be meeting her and she would take us around the palace. In the event, nobody turned up and we just had to do our own tour. Why were we sent information with the guide's name if it was not a guided tour? What a rip off.

This tour operator is a scam, be warned! We made a confirmed non-refundable booking with this operator. On the basis of this confirmation, we then booked our trip to Granada (spending significant money on flights and hotel). I asked numerous times on the Viator platform when we will receive the actual tickets, with response "don't worry you will receive them the day before the visit". Stupidly I trusted this, only to be informed by this operator at 21:00 the night before our scheduled visit that they are cancelling the tour since they didn’t actually have the entry tickets they sold us days before!!! At this point there was also no real options to book with another operator (without having to pay $600+) as it was so close to our planned visit time. We eventually ended up having to pay more than $600 for another operator to at least save our trip and still see the Alhambra which was the only purpose of our trip! Needless to say this ruined our whole trip. Viator is not willing to recognise the unethical behaviour of this operator (they also go by the name "Traveltrails") and remove them, so you have to look after yourself and avoid these guys.

Overall good experience. Consider using Alhambra’s Wi-Fi as the audio guide was difficult to use in Nasrid Palace due to lack of internet.

Do not book with this company!!! Travel trails! You do not get an entry time to the Alhambra with your specific Nasarit place access time until literally 12 hours before, and it’s never daytime for the Palace , only after 4 pm.(general access is all day). I paid an absolutely outrageous price for two people €280! The general admission price with a free audio guide which is the same given by this operator is less than €20 with Granada.com. I’ll be taking this up with Viator. Book early with a different tour.
