Museum of Magic

The Great Illusions Masterpieces of Magic Art In 1850, Robert-Houdin had the idea of using his son to achieve the suspension ethereal, an illusion where the human body seems to defy the laws of gravity. This prodigy marks the beginning of the so-called numbers of great illusions in which one or more people are the object of the tricks presented by the illusionists. The Katia Buatier Chair (1845-1903), allows the instant disappearance of the young woman who takes place on the magical seat. De Vere (1834-1931) showed his daughter Iona the Witch in a giant vase that turned into a beautiful bush of flowers. The Museum has two versions of the mythical tour of The Sawed Woman: one of the first richly decorated versions is the one used by Thurston famous American magician of the beginning of the century. In this model, the table does not separate. The other, more advanced version splits into two parts!

Best for those who are competent with the French language, as the captions on all the exhibits are in French, so it's difficult for international visitors to really appreciate the exhibits, or even know what they're supposed to be. The magic show was conducted in both French and English, the performer asking the audience for their languages beforehand. It's pretty standard stuff, but he made it fun and all the kids in the audience really enjoyed it. Another employee then did both French and English explanations of how a few classic tricks worked. Not bad for an hour long distraction on a rainy day.

Came here with my 6 year old son, he loved trying all the interactions and was amazed at the magic show! Magician was very friendly and spoke English for us.

Great experience for children, very interactive! Lots of antique displays. Funny mirrors etc. Superb magic show!

The museum of magic is a tiny exposition showing old magic-boxes and trick-materials. A part of the museum is dedicated to mechanical-boxes which move by pressing a button. It also includes some illusions and magic-lantern-effects. It(s a perfect place for children (small and big) who like to "watch" with their fingers. Every now and then there is a short magic-show (25') with some close-up tricks with cards and balls. In the shop you get a chance to buy magical-tricks for starters (tip : the svengali-radio-card-trick).

When you’ve had you fill of Impressionist paintings, a visit to this quirky museum is just the thing. For the price of admission you see a magic show, which is especially fun if there are kids in the audience. Then another magician gives a brief history of magic and does a few tricks as well. If you are English speaking they will do it in English as well French.

Chaotic….reservation at 3:00 p.m. Entry at 3:20 p.m. after 30 minutes of waiting in the rain. According to officials, tickets on the Internet are not skip-the-line. Far too many people for the self-guided tour. Doubts about safety in the event of any problem. Inaudible explanations of two magic tricks. Very disappointed

I was accompanied by 4 teenagers aged 12 to 16. The magic show and the story of magic are aimed more at young children. Damage. While aiming for the museum, my teenagers manipulated objects available to do magic tricks, a person came apparently annoyed that we were touching the objects. Also, it's a shame to react like that, especially with teenagers. In short, magic interests us but we were disappointed with our visit.
