First stop of day 4. We last visited around 15 years ago and were impressed by the changes. The walk-through C-47 was interesting as were the other halls. The Waco hall was interesting although a slight geographical error on the location of Greenham Common on the projected map over the construction area!! 😁. We will return!!

This is one of the best museums in Normandy, we have been made most welcome for the last 15 years. The museum is constantly changing for the better and the staff are always so welcoming and helpful. We will be back next year for the 16th time .

I didn't know what to expect. Overall, a bit disappointed. I've been to the ww2 musuem in New Orleans so this one didn't live up to my standards. Granted I didn't do the audio guide but probably took only 1 hr. It focused primarily on the waco gliders and paratroopers. The latter was interesting. I think if you are more interested in the details or ww2 you'd enjoy. The films were well done and fairly easy to find your way through.

Absolutely amazing ! This museum is really for everyone - the scenes staged are perfect for people who are less into reading things or younger children, and the info given in the exhibit is precise, diverse, and fascinating. I particularly enjoyed the tales of diverse soldiers - how they got into the army, and what became of them after the war. The section on spies was also quite interesting. Alogether, it was a very immersive experience and I liked the diversity between each buildings. The tablet is also nice - the game of finding the special artifact is fun for the youngers - but also for the little extra immersive videos.

My wife and I are both veterans, and I am a veteran of the 82nd Airborne Division. We are drawn to military history sights and with the 80th anniversary of D-Day imminent, we decided it was about time to visit some significant WWII-related historical sites in Normandy. We were both impressed with how modern and well developed this attraction was. Individuals are free to wander probably two acres of buildings with vintage military equipment relating to the Battle of Normandy. My particular favorite was the C-47 building, where visitors walk down a mock-up of the fuselage of C-47 transport aircraft of the type that 82nd and 101st Airborne dropped from on the day before D-Day. The experience is heightened by a sound track of the sounds of the aircraft’s engines, and vibrations through the floor like one would hear and feel on a parachute mission. There is also a well-appointed gift shop with all kinds of souvenirs.

I have been to this museum a few times since 1990 and it is one of the more interesting and, I suspect, better funded of the D-Day exhibitions. They are extending for the 80th so can only get better. They really should renew the mannequin hanging from the church though - make it a project for a local school.

Very informative visit. The museum is split into five sections. Section 1 (St Mere Eglise in peacetime) was closed for upgrade. However the other four were open. You get the full, immersive experience. Not just a boring old museum with things in boxes and dymo tape labels on them. You get the sights, sounds and in certain areas, the smells of life as a U.S. paratrooper. However, the exhibit explanations in English are in orange text. It’s quite hard to read. Take a torch to help, or learn French before you visit (the French script is in white and is much easier to read!).

Allow about 90 minutes. Very well done. Mostly about the airborne assault and the US Paratrooper caught on the church steeple. Terrific animation and static displays. Guide to museum is a tablet requiring scanning a photo at each section to see that section’s information. Took us a little time to learn how to use the tablet. The museum added to seeing the paratrooper on the church and lunch at the John Steele restaurant (good!) made a comfortably full day for us.

Great museums with 4 different sections. Very much worth the 10 euro fee and the gift shop is cool!

sombre insight into the nights of the D-Day landings, stories of the lives given up for Europe's freedom. Great museum with handy tablet to give visitors extra information as they tour the site. Heading inn 2024, it may be busier as its the 80th anniversary!
