We had the most wonderful experience with Guiseppe and Letizia for this cooking course. We started by buying seasonal ingredients from the market that we cooked together in their country house. Their extensive vegetable garden provided more ingredients. They were so generous with their time and sharing their passion of the farm to table approach in traditional Sicilian cooking. We started with an aperol and a platter of their homemade produce followed by cooking a 3 course meal that we shared with our group at their dining table. Everything we prepared was absolutely delicious . Highly recommend doing this course when you are visiting Syracuse.

It was an authentic and convivial experience. Witnessing purchasing the produce at the market was great. The group was warmly welcomed into Letizia’s home. All was unrushed, peppered with plenty of tips. We covered a range of recipes and the results were delish. Highly recommend’

This was one of the absolute highlights of our two weeks in Sicily. Shopping and cooking with Giuseppe was a great experience, as was sharing a meal with him and his family. Delicious food, delightful conversation, learning more about the local cuisine-what could be better. Thank you!

We had a fabulous day with the Letizia and her family in Ortigia. She met us in the market where she took us on a shopping trip. There she showed us some of the local delicacies, and how the many cultures that have been to Sicily in the past, influence its cuisine today. We then went to her lovely home, where we picked fresh herbs and vegetables from her large garden. And then the cooking and eating began! We were given a sample of local cheeses, some made by her father, as well as pistachios and olives. And, of course, some Prosecco! She then instructed us on how to prepare a Sicilian feast, including making fresh pasta, bruschetta and calamari. It was all delicious. We enjoyed it with a few crisp glasses of wine, followed by homemade strawberry gelato. If you enjoy cooking, and want to understand more about Sicilian, history, culture, and cuisine, we would highly recommend this to her. We had a great time, and it is definitely one of the highlights of our visit to the beautiful island of Sicily.

It was a fabulous day. We shopped at the Ortigia market for the ingredients for lunch and learned about the local produce and fish. Then we went to Guiseppe’s family home for a wonderful cooking experience. We had a fun time with two other couples learning to make pasta and caponata among other dishes. Would highly recommend.

We met Giuseppe in town and he walked us through the market. We bought vegetables, fish, shrimp, and other ingredients. He was very knowledgeable and knew all the vendors. He drove us in his car back to his family home outside the city. We toured the incredible garden and home. We met his family and began preparing the meal with Giuseppe and his cousin, Cristina a professional chef. They treated us to a charcuterie sampling of cheese, olives, nuts, and incredible homemade ricotta cheese. We made bruschetta, pasta with shrimp, peppers with breadcrumbs, fried anchovies, orange salad, and gelato. It was incredibly fun and we learned so much. We enjoyed the local wine and Prosecco spritz as well. This experience was incredible and the cultural immersion was such a wonderful benefit. I encourage anyone spending time in Siracusa to spend 4+ hours with Giuseppe and his family.

I confess I was a little worried about booking this experience, it was my daughter’s birthday so I wanted it to be a special day. I need not have worried. Guiseppe was welcoming and knowledgeable showing us around the market. I would have liked to have done lots more market shopping after our tour with him, but sadly it was our last day! The real highlight of the experience, however, was being in their family home - looking around and tasting produce from the garden, eating his father’s freshly made Ricotta, cooking delicious food with Giuseppe and his super lovely cousin (I’m embarrassed to have forgotten her name, no reflection of her!!!) and sitting down to eat our creations together. It was very informal and so enjoyable - simply a wonderful way to spend the day. Without a doubt our best day in Syracusa.

Cooking with a Sicilian family in their home with vegetables just picked from their amazing garden . . . Wonderful! We booked at the last minute, received a quick response, and clear directions to the meeting place. Letizia and Giuseppe (sister & brother) were a wealth of knowledge about Sicily as well as food. Our only wish? To have had time to take their history, food & Etna tours as well!
