I had a great day on this tour and would highly recommend to anyone visiting Porto. There is much wine and port to be had, the lunch was the highlight of the day. The place was very special and unique and also served us delicious food. As a solo female traveller I enjoyed that the tour was a small group, it was worth paying a bit more for as it was a comfortable experience. Ricardo did a good job at facilitating the tour and giving us lots of information about the Douro Valley and local vineyards.

This tour was so much fun! It was my boyfriend and I’s first time in Europe and we’d 100% recommend this. Hugo (tour guide) was not only knowledgeable, but also hilarious and overall a good time. Our tour had 7 people total which I’d say is so much better than the larger tours.

We had a wonderful day. After approx. 1 hour drive we arrived in the Douro valley. The views and scenery are simply breathtaking, especially on a sunny day! After a short stop for coffee, the second stop was in a small 'quinta' where we got to learn how Port wine is produced, followed by a tasting of the finished product: 3 x Fonseca Ports, which were all very nice. The ladies all loved the ruby, but I preferred the tawny. The second stop was a 1h boat tour on the river, which was very relaxing. Some of the scenery was mind blowing and it was very interesting seeing the names of all the famous Port makers along the river, along with their historic buildings. A glass of homemade Port was also offered on board. The last stop was for lunch. A fantastic experience - home made Portuguese BBQ, with some very enthusiastic Portuguese locals who did everything to make sure we had a good time. Lots of delicious smoked meats, some of the best mashed potatoes I've ever tasted, and of course plenty of Port! We were in a small group - 8 in total (me and 7 ladies!) - and everybody interacted well and seemed to get on. Our guide Marcelo was fantastic. He had a great sense of humour and kept us well entertained throughout the day, whist providing us with some very interesting details about the history of Port wine making and how everything came to be. Thank you for a great day out, Marcelo!

This was a must do experience!! The guide Hugo was incredible and told us so much about Port wine, the history, the process and all the different types. We got to try so so much port wine from the most beautiful vineyard with breathtaking views. We then had a traditional portuguese lunch where we enjoyed even more port and wine. The people at the restaurant were incredible! Overall, Hugo was absolutely amazing all day and I really appreciate it!! Muito obrigada, Sara Rodrigues

Would 100% recommend doing the small group tour with this company. Everything was smooth from booking, to the tour & our tour guide Ricardo was amazing with a wealth of knowledge of Duoro Valley & the surrounding areas. Our first stop for trying wines had stunning views and we had plenty of time to take photos. The drive up to the lunch spot was equally beautiful & lunch itself was delicious with a variety of foods. Of course, we had different kinds of house wine and port wine and that was also delicious. Definitely wine happy by the end of the tour. Thank you Ricardo and Viva Tours for an exceptional experience we won’t forget!
