Your Itinerary

Granada

After pick-up, we will drive 1.5 hours to Pampaneira.

Pampaneira

The first stop of our excursion will be Pampaneira. After driving for a little less than 1,5 hours, we will arrive to this beautiful small village located in the foothills of the south face of the Sierra Nevada. Strolling through its narrow streets with their unique architecture will make you feel like you are in a fairy tale. We will visit a handicraft store to see the famous "jarapas" made right there, carpets of all colors unique to the area. After the walking tour you will have some free time if you want to buy some local products, such as honey or wine.

Capilerilla

In Capileria, the highest village we will visit (4,711 ft) we will continue to learn more about the history of this place. We will make a small hiking tour to see the famous "cortijos", the typical country houses that, although less and less, are still used in La Alpujarra. From here we can enjoy the beauty of the valley and see the highest peaks of the Sierra Nevada.

Capileira

Lunch time

Bubion

Our second stop is Bubion, just 5 minutes driving from Pampaneira. In Bubion we will enter the "Casa Museo Alpujarreña", a house converted into a museum to understand from the inside what life was like in the Alpujarra until very recently and how it still is for many of its neighbors. We will see how were the kitchens, bedrooms and day to day life. We will also walk through Bubión and talk about the Alpujarras War, a conflict between Moors and Christians crucial to understand the history of Spain.

Granada

After finishing our tour, we will drive 1.5 hours to return to Granada.

Spend an extra day in Granada and book this tour into the white villages of Sierra Nevada where the Muslims of Granada retreated after the expulsion of 1492. Maika drove us through mountains on winding roads and we visited 3 communities, walked the cobbled streets, admired the unique homes and gardens, explored the interior of a historic home and church, enjoyed a coffee break and a delicious lunch. Listened to the burbling mountain streams, waterfalls and bird song, admired the views. Maika's love for this geography is evident and she is a wonderful guide who gave us a deeper appreciation of Andalusian lore and nature.

How can you understand Spain until you get far away from the cities to villages with 500-700 people up in the mountains? This trip was well worth it. We learned so much about the history of the region from Maika, our guide!

The trip to the Alpujarras was a highlight of our vacation! The pace of the day was perfect for us and our two young boys (7 and 5). We all enjoyed walking thorugh the villages, learning about the history and getting to know our guide, Jaime. Jaime was an outstanding guide and we would definitely recommend this trip!

We enjoyed the cute, handmade white little houses with unique chimney tops and the natural water fountains and the views of the Sierra Nevada and the valleys. Our guide Michael made the trip memorable and explained the culture, lifestyle, and history of the area in an easy to understand way. Also he reserved a great place for lunch and suggested a delicious local Migas dish for us.

Our guide Michael was very friendly, spoke English very well and was very nice to our 14 year old grandson. We were very lucky to be the only people on the tour. It was a good experience that we all enjoyed.

Pedro brought us to the Alpujarras Mountains and we had a beautiful relaxing day. We hiked, walked the streets of the villages and had a delicious lunch. Pedro was very personable, patient with my children (who enjoyed the hike too) and just a pleasure to converse with all day. Definitely recommend this trip!

the tour was cancelled and we were only made aware 30 mins after the tour was to start. Terrible communication. The fact the tour was cancelled would almost certainly have been known the night before. The tour guide arrived 30 mins after the tour was to have started to tell my wife it was cancelled. Then there was poor communication between him and the hotel where I was located waiting for my wife. Terrible communication and as result strongly advise against choosing this tour.

Our group of 4 enjoyed everything about our day. Our guide Michael was punctual, flexible and most importantly very knowledgeable and personable. The villages themselves are quaint and beautiful. It was a unique experience for our group. The vehicle was clean and Michael was an excellent driver. Booking the trip itself was an easy and actually pleasant experience. Our contact Pedro was very responsive and went out of his way to make sure our day would meet our expectations even to researching restaurants and answering my many questions. We would definitely book with Yannat again.

Had a wonderful day. Our guide, Miguel, was extremely knowledgeable and the scenery was jaw dropping. Alpujarras is a must for anyone staying in Granada.

The place was so beautiful it is out of the city loudness. You can enjoy fresh air and tast organic and healthy food. Ofcourse we could not know all the secrets of the places without the help of our giude Mr. Miguel. He did a great help and support for us. Much appreciate his effort. I know it was not easy to guide two adventure seeking couple for 8 hours but he was so friendly. Thanks again and hope to see you in the future
