Alexandra Park

On the way back to Bath from Stonehenge you will enjoy lunch in a traditional Cotswolds pub, either in Freshford or in Bradford-on-Avon. (approx. 1 hour) Thereafter, from a wooded hillside rising above the city, marvel at the magnificent views over the historic city of Bath.

Bath

Relax as your expert, local guide walks you around Bath's major landmarks and transports you through 2,000 years of history. Enjoy a colourful interpretation of the people and places that bring this unique UNESCO World Heritage City to life.

Bath Abbey

(Pass by)

This is the last great mediaeval cathedral to have been built in England and it tells a myriad of fascinating stories. We will examine the imagery on the great west front. You will not enter the Abbey during this walking tour but you can do so later at your leisure.

The Roman Baths

(Pass by)

Discover why this enormous bathing complex evolved and how it was lost in time for centuries after the Romans departed Britain. Immediately adjacent to the Baths you will see into the Grand Pump Room, which is named after the water that is pumped into the room from the same hot spring that feeds the Roman Baths. This elegant neo-classical building was the beating heart of the Georgian social scene, where fashionable society came to drink the spring waters but also to promenade, gossip, and to matchmake. We will not have time to go inside the Roman Baths Museum or Pump Room. Should you wish to do so at another time, please make sure you book online well in advance.

Thermae Bath Spa

(Pass by)

Hot Springs & Thermae Bath Spa. You will hear more about the city's unique hot springs and see the other Baths that they feed, including the Cross Baths and the modern public spa. Your guide will explain how royal patronage in the late 1600s changed the city forever. There is insufficient time to visit the Thermae Bath Spa during our walking tour. Should you wish to do so please book well in advance.

Queen Square

(Pass by)

Your guide will explain the architectural significance of this square, which set the blueprint for Bath's rapid 18th century expansion and the beautiful city we see today.

No. 1 Royal Crescent

(Pass by)

Undoubtedly Bath's most iconic residential street and the setting for countless costume period dramas down the years, like Bridgerton.

The Circus

(Pass by)

You won't fail to be inspired by England’s first spherical residential street - a unique amphitheatre inspired by the Colosseum and by Stonehenge.

Assembly Rooms

(Pass by)

Take in the opulence of the grand rooms in which royalty, nobility, and high society like Jane Austen went to party when Bath was the Las Vegas of its day.

Pulteney Bridge

(Pass by)

Admire and stroll across this unique bridge in England, which spans the River Avon and was designed by famous Georgian architect, Sir Robert Adam.
