The best way to travel there is by boat from Embankment or Westminster Pier. As you get there, you must walk a bit to get to prime meridian, but just outside a park you find a nice spot to take pictures and it is free - unlike the "official" place. Make sure you go into the National Maritime Museum, which is also free and has entertaining stuff for children as well. If you are a Nelson fan, you are going to love it! The Queen's House was a bit boring for our 11 year old, but the Greenwich Parc made up for it. Splendid view from the hill, some deers behind a gate and a charming lake.
