Trip was ok. More about other things than actual seeing dolphins. Even though we had a thick wetsuit it was freezing especially after getting back to the boat and waiting another 20min to get to the next spot.

Nice boat trip with a very good crew. Trip was Informative. Sadly no dolphins, which was the main reason for booking the trip. I thought you'd be fairly certain you would see a few dolphins, so we were a little disappointed, having driven 90 mins to get there. The boat was clean, toilets were on board, and we were given a couple of biscuits too. Trip was good. We saw the seals and some birds. We understand these are wild animals so it's up to them whether they decide to show up...

It was an extremely warm day ,sat it the heat for an extra 30 minutes due to a late arrival of ten people, missed the chance to swim with dolphins as way to much waiting and watching in the end so many people were so hot and bothered and uncomfortable we stopped at the seals, everyone was so happy to get in the water just to cool off! staff were lovely but $175 each pretty disappointed 😞

A must trip for every family . Incredibly good and helpful crew who helped my son to swim with seals and dolphins regardless of his limited abilities This 3 hour tour will take your sea life adventure to the next level

TLDR : Go to Kaikoura in New Zealand - way better I was surprised to see to see dolphin tours in the busy Melbourne bay. The tour operator gave a high chance of success and apart from dolphins we would also see seals and sea horses - great. In case the dolphins were not there on that day the Moonraker team stated on their website that we could just try again for free. A few friends of mine had already gone on a first trip, but no luck and they did not see any dolphins. When they tried a second time (for free) I decided to join in. Again we went without really seeing any dolphins. The captain tried hard and at one point there was the fin of a single dolphin in the distance, but quickly disappeared. Maybe that was because there was several other boats trying to claim the best spot and just chasing away the animals. Swimming with seals was the best part. We also stopped at a port with a lot of anglers to see sea horse. I did not see any and neither did anyone else in the group. All this would not have been a huge deal. Sometimes you are just not that lucky. But when I asked how to book the next trip for free (as I had not been swimming with dolphins as advertised) Moonraker just told me that I had seen the dolphin and that was apparently it. No second trip, no swimming with dolphins. No refund or discount either.

It was certainly an amazing time swimming with the seals closely in the sea. Their movements is beautiful. It was very pity that we were not able to spot the dolphin that day though I do understand you cannot guarantee anything from wildlifes. I would do it again for swimming with dolphins if I ever traveled Melbourne, but would be in a warmer season, this time the sea water was still in low temperature. We were freezing and shaking hard for long after coming out from the water.

I chose the sightseeing tour with my parents, we saw the groups of dolphins swimming just behind the boat! Took tons of photos of them. Lots of fun! The staffs are friendly and the food is delightful. Definitely will recommend to my friends and come back for swimming tour.

We initially did this trip in December but did not see dolphins, so returned in March to try again. The crew are all very kind and helpful and made sure everyone was safe. I had read all the glowing reviews and perhaps my expectations were unrealistic so decided to write this review. Their website states that only 10 swimmers can be in the water near the dolphins at a time but I did not realise its implications. We had over 20 swimmers on the boat so had to divide into 3 separate groups and were hustled and in and out of the water after less than 5 minutes. Even with all the crews efforts to find the dolphins and get each group in and out 2 or 3 times in different places to be able to see them, in the end some people saw dolphins while swimming, some did not. Although I enjoyed the trip, watching the dolphins from the boat and swimming with the seals, I don't consider the effort and cost worth it to possibly be in the water for a few minutes of the 3 hour trip to see a dolphin swim past you in a flash. Afternoon tea consisted of some broken chocolate chip biscuits, a plate of mini muffins and a plate of fruit, none of which I got because there was just not enough for everyone.

Up to you if you prefer to do the seal- and dolphin watching tour on a large ship with many tourists or on a zodiac with 6 people (slighthly more expensive of course). The zodiac is faster and the tourists are quicker in the water but basically both ships offer the same tour.

I took two disabled people on this trip and we could not have had a better time. The crew and particularly Jules were amazing. As a carer you know everyone has different needs, and the crew listened to me and helped only how and when appropriate. Nothing was too much trouble. Often crew on these adventures are condescending, but Jules the lady that worked on the boat was having such a great time and her sun shone on us all. Gus, you are awesome too :) Thanks Moonraker.
