One of Canberra’s most beautiful vantage points at the top of Mount Ainslie. From the lookout, your guide will explain the growth of a young city, the two-tiered colonial and capital city history and point out places of interest and key attractions, all while you survey the tremendous design of Canberra’s architect, Walter Burley Griffin.

Expect a drive through the grounds of the Royal Military College Duntroon - Australian Army's officer training establishment and perhaps to Mount Pleasant where you’ll be delighted to an alternative aspect overlooking central Canberra.

After a journey through the Parliamentary Triangle, we head to the Old Parliament House - home to the 'Museum of Australian Democracy" where you’ll enjoy our own short guided tour to key parts of this magnificent building showcasing more than 50 years of Australia’s political history.

From the Old to the New, it’s then just a short journey up the Hill to New Parliament House. Get a guided tour through Great Hall, Senate, and House of Representatives Chambers. We usually break for lunch at the Queens Terrace Café, a café with a variety of food options, sure to satisfy even the most diverse tastes.

The Lodge

As mid-afternoon rolls around, we’ll leave New Parliament House for a drive through Canberra’s diplomatic district - first passing by "The Lodge" - the primary official residence of the Prime Minister of Australia. We continue the drive through Canberra’s diplomatic district where you can spot the embassies of different countries represented in Australia.

Australian War Memorial

We’ll guide you around the central part of the AWM before you’ll have some free time to observe some of the many galleries dedicated to showing Australia’s roll in conflict. The final part of the tour is the Memorial’s Last Post Ceremony where a dedication is made to those who have fallen in service for Australia. It often leaves no dry eye.

Booked this tour for 27th May as we considered the itinerary would give us a great overview of our Capital City and its many attractions. We were not disappointed. Collected from our hotel at the appointed time and then enjoyed an enjoyable eight hours approx. while our erstwhile driver/guide, Neil, regaled us with tales of Canberra from foundation to present day. Certainly knows his history and many anecdotes that make for an enjoyable and informative tour. Many highlights including visits to Old and New Parliament Houses and concluding with a visit to the War Memorial and the solemn Last Post Ceremony. It was a special day.

This is the highest rated tour for a reason. The guide was knowledgeable and creative and adapted to the interests of the guests. The van was super comfy. We saw so many cool things I never would have thought of visiting like parliament building and the arboretum. This was a great way to learn about the city!

I wanted to see the main sights and learn some of the history of Canberra from a local, so I booked a tour. I wasn’t disappointed, in fact the tour was perfect. A great mix of history and interesting stories. Neil was the perfect guide as he grew up in Canberra and has a wonderful way of sharing its sights and history. We took the day-Tour on 10 May 2024. Neil (tour operator) was absolutely fantastic. Went all over Canberra, including into old and new Parliament Houses, and the War Memorial. Pickup and drop-off at our hotel. Highly recommended!

Yan is extremely helpful and he took some awesome photos of myself! Would recommend this tour to anyone from Sydney who cant drive or does not want to rent a car to Canberra. The views are beautiful and the sky is flawless. Ministers just happened to have a meeting during our visit to the House of Parliament and we can watch it albeit just for a moment due to time limit. The 3 hour ride is very smooth. But be warned that the all-you-can-eat lunch session is not recommended if you can't eat non-halal food. Other than that, it's all good. That crispy pig skin was *chef's kiss*

Simon is a very nice Gentleman with a wealth of knowledge on Canberra and it's history He guided us via a carefully chosen pathway starting at Mt Ainslie and ending at the War Memorial. Highly educated, speaks several foreign languages and a true Gentleman. I felt I understood the essence of Canberra in a day's guided tour.

A great small group tour covering many aspects of Canberra sights. Especially good for the solo traveller and for orientating yourself to other places to visit or to go back and spend more time at a place of interest. The Last Post Ceremony at the Australian War Memorial was a moving highlight. Our driver/guide Simon was lovely, knowledgeable but didn’t overload us with too much information.
