Your Itinerary

Statua Marforio

Marforio is a huge statue of the Roman era possibly depicting the god Neptune, the Ocean or the Tiber. After the statue of Pasquino it is certainly one of the most famous of the so-called six talking statues of Rome.

Piazza di San Marco

The statue of the only female representative of the six talking statues of Rome.

Fontana del Facchino

The youngest of the talking statues in Rome, like the other 5, the statue of the Aquarolo was also the protagonist of violent and irreverent pasquinades.

Fontana del Babuino

The statue of the Babuino is the representation of a lying Silenus, and over the years it too has become the protagonist of the Roman pasquinades. Why Babuino? It seems that the people of Rome gave this name to the statue because it was considered not very beautiful.

Statua dell'Abate Luigi

The statue of Abbot Louis is a statue of the late Roman period probably representing a magistrate. This statue has been the protagonist of very recent pasquinades, the last one even in 1966.

Piazza di Pasquino

At the foot of this statue, sheets containing satire in verse were hung in the night, aimed at making an anonymous mockery of the most important public figures of the time. They were the so-called "pasquinades", from which emerged the popular discontent towards power and the aversion to corruption and the arrogance of its representatives.
