My tour guide was the best tour guide ever. It sucks i don't remember her name because i remembered everything she said. Linda maybe Or Lydia. whatever the case, let me tell my story. Im from California but have a Creol, Hatian African and Indian heritage. I got the brochure from my hotel when checking in at the residence inn in the French quarter. My wife said i should go to Lauras i thought i should go to Destrehan. I listened to my my wife and made my way to Lauras for my 11:30 reservation on 06/05/2024 and after driving about 35 minutes i made a wrong turn into the sugar cane fields and i got stuck in the mud in the fields. Front wheel drive no way out. I called Lauras and the sweet. receptionist put everything on hold and orchestrated a tractor to come and pull me out. she was so loving and nice. Though, i have too much pride and motivation i managed a way to get unstuck while in reverse spinning my rental car in multiple directions but i finally made it back to dry land and called the sweet receptionist back and told her to cancle the tractor. By the way, i wasn't on. their property but i think the wrong persons property. But i made it out and missed my 11:30 reservation thoough i was in communication with the sweet receptionist and she rescheduled me for 12:00 P.M. haam so happy this all happened to me. Trying to get out of the bumper deep mud was one of the hardest things ive done in a long time. But i made it out, as i looked behind me while my wheels were spinning i just deeply felt connected to the slaves that had tilled these very fields and just knew that i had to make it out on my own. And i did. Fast forward back to Lauras. i Arrived at 11:45 AM mud and dirt all over me and i met the sweet receptionsist i spoke with on the phone, she showed me to the restroom where i cleaned than i barely made it to my new timed tour. From the beggining to the end i was thrilled with the intelligence , knowledge, and understanding that our tour guide had on this property and just for the whole slave trade from the business aspect but also from the slaves aspect. She was the best ever. I use to be a tour guide and i was really good but she is a 1000 times better than me. My family is coming out to New Orleans soon, and i will be going back with them, if she is not available we wont do the tour. She was so connected to the tourist and her story and the knowledge. The tour was great. Shortly after i went to Destrehan plantation and it was scripted and for show and for donations. I promise i have no connections to Lauras plantations but this has been the great experiences i've had since i've been in Louisiana for the last 3 weeks. Thank you tour guide. I swear im going to remember your name. Again, i arrived for the 12:00 pm tour on 06/05/2024.

The way they preserved the main house is awesome. Our guide Amiele is very professional and very knowledgeable. Thank you for the beautiful coverage.

Learned a lot about creole life, the family that lived at the Plantation and the history of what the slaves experienced during that time. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and very patient with the group ensuring no one was left out. Their gift shop has a large selection and I recommend checking that out. I had shown up a day before my actual reservations, but they were very accommodating! The gift shop and plantation home both have AC. Our only issue was the heat, which caused us to end our tour a little early. I was traveling with my 80 year old father.

After having gone to the Laura, Oak Alley, and Houmas Plantations, I think the Laura plantation was the most authentic and upfront about slavery. The tour guide and staff were amazing! We arrived a little late and were unable to join the next tour time due to other obligations. They happily brought us in to our original tour group late and even had another knowledgeable tour guide give us a quick recap of what was likely covered in the time we missed on the way out to the group, which was unexpected and much appreciated. Above and beyond!

This tour was amazing, the guide Jay was very knowledgeable, and he did an excellent job telling us about the history of The Laura Planation. The tour size was small but intimate. We learned a lot about Plantation life in general from Jay. We also visited the Oak Alley Plantation; I recommend visiting the Laura Plantation over Oak Alley if you only have time for one.

We have been on this tour in the past and wanted to bring our children this time. The beauty of the plantation and the retelling of its history never disappoints us. We highly recommend visiting The Laura Plantation.

We took one picture, the family tree to be able to keep up with the story. Amelie was very knowledgeable but most importantly she brought out the most important part of the stories, the people who worked on the plantation were people not property. The group we were with were quiet and listening intently. It was a very somber experience and we felt like we were walking on sacred ground. We were glad Laura sold the plantation so she had no connection with carrying on the abuse. May God have mercy on the souls who lived and worked on the plantation. Amelie did a fabulous job of the realization of how the people were abused, used and taken advantage of. Thank you Amelie!

Very informative. Beautiful grounds! It was interesting to hear about how people lived in different generations and their role with the slaves. It’s a bit out from New Orleans but well worth the drive.
