Our bus driver was wonderful. She was knowledgeable of the places we passed and stopped at and made the drive more interesting. The actual “big house” tour was not as interesting as I had hoped. I wish we had gone to Whitney, where I heard the focus was more on the slave experience. At Oak Alley, the slave quarters are just a self-guided tour, while the tour in the “big house” did not seem to truly touch on the horrors of life on a plantation for the majority of its residents. We were also unfortunate enough to have a few racist people in our tour group, which may have influenced my opinion of the experience. The oak trees are beautiful and the restaurant is great.

The alley of oaks leading to the house was absolutely beautiful! That alone made the trip worthwhile but everything else was awesome too. The slave cabins were heartbreaking but I learned quite a few things that I didn't know about slavery. I just can hardly believe that this happened in our country and people thought it was ok back then. The house itself was fascinating as were the stories from our tour guide explaining life on a plantation. You could tell she loved her job. The balcony that surrounding the house was really nice. Wish I had something like that! Very nice gift shop with very nice mementos of the plantation. I purchased a jigsaw puzzle with the iconic shot of the oaks and house. The bus ride out to the plantation was good, our driver very informative, and I like the video we watched. All in all, I thought it was well worth the cost and great experience.

Very good organization, from the bus ride to the visit of the big house. We would have liked to have more info about the property today.

Mavis_S

Our driver was professional and courteous with a great sense of humor. The plantation was incredible and the tour guide there was extremely professional and knowledgeable. We learned so m6ch about plantation life, slavery, and society at that time.

Albany_G

First of all the tour bus driver could at least give us a little guided tour and explain something about the plantation, about the route being taken, about what we are seeing during the bus ride. The bus driver said nothing during the entire trip. Then the tour guide at the Oak Alley Plantation gave us very little information and the tour did not even include the slave quarters. You had to walk with no tour guide or explanation. The tour is lacking in professional tour guides. We expected more stories, background, more guide!

Kerstin_S

Safe and gentle driving to/from the plantation on a super clean and comfortable, modern coach. The time at the plantation was just enough. Really recommendable!

Kathy_W

The grounds are just stunning. The tour is informative. The tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable.

Jamie_H

The house was beautiful. We felt rushed and the guide spoke really fast. She seemed annoyed when we asked questions. I wish they did a tour of the grounds and slave housing. That was all self guided. The trees where beautiful!

Linda_R

House was amazing. Loved the stories of Ms Stewart who was the last owner of the plantation. The history of slave life and their living conditions was straight forward and not glorified.

Sue_H

Driver was in time, had some good information and was polite and friendly. Tour was interesting and the bus was on time to pick us up.
