Conveniently located at Bayside Marketplace on the right side of the main stage, this is the perfect way to spend the evening in Miami.

The check-in process and the boat itself were not what we were expecting, but the ride almost made up for it. My wife and I booked the trip online for the Miami Skyline Cruise to watch the sunset and the email instructions said to go to the Bayside Marketplace in front of the Hard Rock Cafe. When we got there, the marketplace was bustling on a Saturday night and it was really hard to find the check in place. I finally located someone in a Miami Aqua Tours shirt under a blue umbrella and she told us to go down some steps towards the water. There, we found a sign that said "Miami Aqua Tours line starts here" with another family waiting. No boat though, and it should have been loading passengers by then. So I went back to the same lady who told me to go find another employee standing under a blue umbrella near the water. I found the other employee person, he looked at my reservation and told me I have to go to the pirate ship. I said, hold on, I booked the Skyline Cruise, not the pirate ship. I saw the pirate ship option online and I did not select that. But he insisted that I have to go to the pirate ship - that it's all with the same company and is the same tour, they just change the name/vessel. That was frustrating. He told me to walk down the length of the marketplace until I found the ship. I did, and tried to get on with my online reservation email, but was told to go back up to yet another employee to get a boarding pass. We finally got the boarding pass and were able to board. But seeing this pirate ship was very disappointing; it was just what it sounds like - a small, replica pirate ship, which was pretty tacky - maybe something great for kids but not for a couple looking for a romantic sunset cruise, which I thought I had paid for. The check-in person taking photos and the tour guide were even dressed in pirate attire. Not what I was expecting. My wife and I decided we would try to make the best of it. The view and the breeze were awesome, although I wish they could have pointed the ship in the direction of the sunset more often. The boat made a straight line northeast up Biscayne Bay and the tour focused more on the celebrity homes throughout the Venetian Islands and other islands in the bay. I guess that was cool but I had hoped for more sunset. The tour guide did a nice job relaying the details in English and Spanish and played some good music (mix of hip hop, reggaeton, salsa, etc.). Overall, I'd say it was an average experience. Miami Aqua Tours needs to be more clear that the boats may change depending on availability - and they need to reserve the pirate ship for people who actually paid for the pirate ship cruise. That was very misleading and almost led me to leave and ask for a refund. They should also provide more clear instructions on the check-in process because that was very confusing and took forever.
