We had a fantastic afternoon on the water sailing. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to enjoy the beautiful water surrounding Miami. We sailed with wind power only, saw dolphins in their natural habitat, snorkelled in beautiful, warm, clear water, explored the bay, stopped and had a lovely snack, and watch the sunset as we sailed back. Outstanding experience.

Captain JP is friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. You will be sailing is on a Hobie Catamaran which means you will get wet, you will go fast across the water powered by the wind and you will have FUN!! We had the distinct pleasure of sailing across Biscayne Bay which allowed us to see a small pod of dolphins including a rare sighting of mother and baby! If you want to have an authentic sailing experience, be close to the water, and be with really great people, I highly recommend booking this trip! We are experienced sailors and thoroughly enjoyed our time on the water! The meeting spot is in a public park where you’ll be escorted to the dock and possibly transported by a small power boat to a float before getting onto the catamaran. You will need to transfer from dock to boat to float to catamaran. The catamaran is about 15’ in length. There is No head (restroom) or amenities onboard. Bring a change of clothes and leave them in the car for afterward. There is a freshwater outdoor shower to rinse off at the park’s public restroom. Use the park restroom before the adventure begins! This is a fun activity and wonderful way to experience the beautiful water of Florida!

We sailed with JP in early May, 10am slot and the day was sunny and clear with good winds for the sail. JP is an excellent tour guide - experienced, personable and accommodating. The catamaran is perfect for a group of 5 (swimmers and non-swimmers). JP took us to the area where he knew wild dolphins swim - and we saw two pods of them! We also saw plenty of stingrays and a turtle. On the way back, we stopped at an island where we could walk in the clear water and take pictures. Overall, it was a great excursion for us and I’ll definitely be back!

We had the most incredible experience with David at Sail Ahead Miami. We have been on speed boats and sailboats before, but nothing was as relaxing and thrilling. David was awesome at explaining how everything works, this was not just like another commercial boating experience this was rather an educational learning experience. David was so family friendly with personal attention. He really went above and beyond to make this as a memorable fun experience as possible. Now we all want to learn how to sail on our own. This is definitely going to be our new adventure every time we visit Miami. A++++++++++ I would give it more than 5 stars if there would be such an option. Highly recommended. We had a wonderful experience. I was a bit worried at first because it was a windy day and the trip was almost canceled. Also, we had different ages so getting on the sailboat took some time to get everyone comfortable. But as we started to sail off all my worries disappeared. I had always wanted to ride on a sailboat since I was a kid, so this was kinda a bucket list item for me. JP was an awesome tour guide! He did an amazing job of taking so many pictures and videos for us! He was very informative and knew the area well. JP was very friendly and kept the conversation flowing. I appreciated that he made a point to remember all our names and get to know everyone. He was a great tour guide. We learned about the winds and sailing. JP had some of us try to sail and steer and it was a lot of fun! My daughter and I got to hang from the side with a harness which was a very unique experience. We saw a dolphin, sting ray, and puffer fish. We stopped at some mangroves in search of manatees, but no luck (We did see a Karen though😉). JP brought us by an island that he and others had spent the cleaning up and posting signs to clean up trash. I really appreciate their conscious effort to protect the environment. JP brought snacks and waters for the group and we enjoyed just hanging out in the water. We had a great experience and I would definitely book again if I’m ever back in the area.

David is fun and easy-going and ready to make the trip whatever it needs to be for you. He's an experienced sailing instructor and meets each person where they are at. He loves the bay and wants to do whatever it takes for you to fall in love with it too. I really felt like I was out on bay with an old friend. The little boat is cozy and casual. It's low to the water creating a very intimate experience with the ocean. I was traveling alone for work and was paired up with a family of four with two young kids. I was astonished as the kids transformed from wildly timid to bold and playful under David's instruction. He is gifted. I would do it all again in a heartbeat.
