We visited Bells fish restaurant Seaham Co Durham today for the first time. We had cod & chips which were beautifully cooked and the fish was lovely. My husband was eating his last piece of fish and there was a very long hair attached to it. He called one of the staff over who examined it. She then went for the ( I presume) manager who offered us the pots of tea free. Had my husband noticed it earlier neither of us would have ate our meals. The manager said I can only give you your teas free as you have ate the food. We had drank the tea but I couldn’t see her logic. Had we noticed it sooner we would not have paid for the meals either. I suggest their staff who have long hair wear nets. I also suggest the manager be trained on how to handle customer complaints. All my working life was spent in training staff and the way she handled the complaint was less than satisfactory. Both couples on adjacent tables said they would have refused to pay for the meals
