Its initial rediscovery was in 1599 and there was a broader rediscovery almost 150 years later in 1748. You will see many villas and temples that were destroyed and buried under 13 to 20 feet of volcanic ash and pumice in the Mount Vesuvius eruption in AD 79. At the end of your visit, we will continue the trip to reach your destination.

Perfection! Roberto picked us up at Naples port then we went to Sorrento and then to Herculaneum before returning to the ship. Thank you Roberto for your kindness and making our day trip perfect! Highly recommend this to see Pompeii 2 hours is all you need. Our driver was excellent and we were running a little late from the train and he got us there in time so we could still do our tour!

Highly recommend this service. We were a group of 6, picked up at Naples airport and brought for a 2 hour stop at Pompeii, then a stop for lunch at a local winery then on to our accommodation. Everything was perfect and Roberto was professional but friendly.

I can not recommend Sorrento Tours enough! I must have emailed Roberto 20+ times and he was very quick to respond and very professional. We booked a transfer from Naples to Positano with a stop in Pompeii. Our driver was lello and he was awesome. I also had to do a near last minute cancellation of our return trip and there were no issues! We will certainly use Sorrento Tours again if we are in the area, thank you!

Excellent service - I highly recommend. Roberto picked our small group up at the Naples train station and we opted to stop at Herculaneum instead of Pompeii. So glad we used this service vs taking the train or renting a car. No worries - smooth all the way.
