After an awful tour to Hallstatt the day before, I was almost tempted to cancel my day in Ramsau - so glad I didn't! There was actually a little bit of spare room in the coach, though it was quite small and not very comfortable. We had a good journey up into the snowy mountains where the horses were waiting to take us on what I believe was a 15km sleigh ride, with a break half way round. I loved the horses and the 7 of us in our sleigh all made friends quickly as we dashed through the snow. It was totally fabulous and I drained my phone battery taking pictures and videos of our wonderful journey. We then had a couple of hours in the village, which was probably a bit too long but I found a nice little place to have lunch (very little open on NYE Sunday). It was a full day and we got back into Salzburg around 6pm. I'd do this again in an instant.

This was a highlight of our trip to Austria. I was traveling with my husband and adult daughter. We took this tour from Salzburg and it was fabulous. Our tour guide, Alenka, gave us a history of the region on the way up, filling in with bits of local trivia and a few restaurant recomendations. Our weather was perfect but it's a sleigh ride in a mountain village so dress warm. They provide warm blankets. A rest stop for the horses allows time for a warm drink at a cafe on the trip. Our driver, Marcus, was gracious and full of local knowledge. His beautiful team, Luna and Gretel, were steady and ready to work. The restaurant, Waldschenke, where we started and ended the sleigh ride, was excellent. Local specialties, warm drinks, and gorgeous desserts in a classic atmosphere were the perfect follow up to our ride. This tour allowed plenty of time to explore the village before heading back to Salzburg. The grounds at Ramsau are a winter paradise for cross country skiing, sleigh rides, and winter hiking on the miles of groomed trails. I would happily return for a longer stay. Pro tip, arrive early for the tour. The Austrians keep a tight schedule.

Oh my goodness, this was an amazing day. Alenka, our guide, and Sammy, our driver, took us to Ramshau in the mountains, for an unforgettable 1.5 hour sleigh ride. It was magical. The whole trip was very well organised and Alenka kept us very entertained during the road work delays...really excellent tour through the most dtunning scenery.

A memorable excision, highly recommended. Probably the best tour guide I’ve ever had in all the years of traveling, Leapold.

Fantastic day out and loved our sleigh ride in snowy Ramsau. Leopold was our guide - what can we say - he was both interesting and funny at the same time, Thank you - so pleased I booked this trip as it was a fun day out on Boxing Day (UK) or St Stephens Day ( Austria).

We have visiting Salzburg for almost a decade and enjoying the beautiful mountains, weather and hospitality. Panorama tours has excellent tour options. As a highlight of course the sound of music tour! In December we have decided to take the horse sleigh tour and we had the privilege to enjoy our Christms day with Leo, an exceptional tour guide with knowledge, love and passion for his profession. Leo, your friends from Cyprus say hello and we thank you for the lovely day. If you ever visited Salzburg, make sure to see the tour options from Panorama tours and enjoy their hospitality and of course the majestic Salzburg!!!! The Kafa family!

This was a wonderful way to spend Christmas morning and I can't say enough wonderful things about this tour and our tour guide Leo. (Leo was super knowledgeable and did a great job giving a little history without being boring and mixing in some humor along the way.) But first I'll start with a funny... I booked this excursion several months in advance and forgot it was a "half day tour" as our confirmation and tickets clearly spell out a "two hour" sleigh ride. As we got packed into a tour bus (which were not expecting), the tour guide starts to describe the day -- a 2-hour bus ride up, 2-hour bus ride down, 2-hour sleigh ride, lunch, time on the mountain, etc..... my kids and husband start giving me the stink eye! Spending that much time on a bus was not what anyone wanted to do on Christmas day. And apparently, I was not the ONLY person who made that mistake. Regardless, we had a blast. The bus took us up to a village on the top of the mountain. There wasn't enough snow to actually sleigh ride, so they put the sleighs up on wheels and the horses trotted around with their sleigh bells jingling and seeming to have more fun than anyone else as they all vied to be in the lead:) At the top of a neighborhood we stopped at a local restaurant for soup and then returned to the village to poke around till the others finished. There wasn't much open, so if I had a do over, I would have spent more time researching hikes in the local area and taken a brisk one while we waited for the return bus. Instead, we ate a "second lunch" at a local restaurant which is known for their homemade cakes and deserts. We weren't that hungry, but they did look special. The trip back down the mountain passed through some cute alpen towns there pretty to view. All in all, this adventure made Christmas morning super magical and despite the bus ride, we had a great time!
