After a short bus transfer to the jetty, you'll board the vessel and embark on an incredible journey. Snorkel in the vibrant coral gardens, encountering a myriad of colorful fish and awe-inspiring marine species. Morning tea will fuel your exploration before heading to the outer reef. As you venture farther, a spotter plane will search for whale sharks and other marine life. When a whale shark is located, the boat will bring you to it. In small groups of 10, take turns swimming alongside this gentle giant. You'll have up to one hour to witness their graceful movements and majestic presence. To maintain their natural habitat, respecting their space and behavior is of utmost importance. As the tour concludes, stop for a second reef snorkel at a different site before returning to the Coral Bay Ecotours office.

Your Itinerary

Coral Bay Ecotours

Your tour begins at 7:30 am at the Coral Bay Ecotours office, followed by a short bus transfer to the jetty to board the vessel. Then we head out for your first reef snorkel experience in the beautiful coral gardens, where you may encounter numerous fish, reef sharks, and other marine species. After morning tea, we begin our journey to the outer reef. By this time our spotter plane is already searching for our whale sharks and informing us of any other exciting marine life spotted along the way! We will do our best to allow you to experience as much wildlife as possible during our tour. Once our spotter plane has found a whale shark, our boat will make its way there. Guests will be split into 2 groups of 10 and take turns to swim with the whale shark. To ensure that we don’t disturb its natural habits, we are allowed a maximum one hour of swimming time with the whale shark. We stop along the way home for a second reef snorkel at a different site.

Amazing experience! The crew takes great care of the participants and shares lots of information about the whale sharks and the whole area around Coral Bay. We snorkeled in the outer reef four times and saw whale sharks, turtles, manatees and manta rays and swam with them. A photographer takes professional photos, which you receive by email after the excursion. Culinary delights are also provided to keep your strength up.

We could sum up our day with two words: simply amazing. The whole tour is well organised and the whole crew were very attentive and caring. They always had everything under control which made us feel comfortable and safe. Among the crew members there was a photographer (Daniel) that made wonderful pictures so that we had the chance to really enjoy our day without constantly trying to get a nice shot.. Had a stunning day on the whale sharks tour. We saw 3 of these amazing animals and were able to get incredibly close (within the guidelines) without it ever feeling like we were stressing them out in any way. Watching this huge fish slowly disappear into the depths of the ocean will stay with me for a long time. The crew running it were very professional, but clearly focused on the well-being of the reef and the animals that live there, which is as it should be. The champagne at the end was a nice touch, as was including the photography in the ticket price. Cheers all.

5 star experience. The staff were friendly, professional and very much in tune with respecting the nature. We came across whale sharks with the boat (without the plane), which apparently is a very rare occurrence, and I swear the staff were more excited than we were! Their passion for the nature really shows through. They line you up in the water with great skill with the whale sharks for a brief glimpse of these amazing animals almost one to one. Highly recommend this company and this tour.

The best trip my husband and I have ever been on. All the crew are charming, helpful, knowledgeable and gave us the best possible experience enabling us to see magnificent Whale Sharks really close up , in my case by pulling me along in the water to keep up! Also saw other sharks too and turtles. Coral was wonderful and so many beautiful fish. We were given nice food and drink. Amazing underwater photographer present all day. The crew had both ours and the ocean inhabitants as their number one priority throughout the trip. Thanks also to the pilot of our spotter plane! Amazing day !!!

My wife and I had an unforgettable incredible day with the fantastic team onboard on 30/6/23. Many thanks to Bodhi, Sophie, photographer Laura and skipper Joy and crew member Jake. We didn’t see a whale shark but completely made up for by swimming with humpbacks close up , manta rays, turtles and a reef shark. This was one of the most amazing experiences of my life! The team at Coral Bay Ecotours are superstars! My family and I have travelled many places around the world and participated in many different tours, and this one would have to be the best! The reef, the amazing marine life and those WHALE SHARKS!!! The tour would have been amazing even without seeing the whale sharks, but we were very lucky to swim with 2 different whale sharks on our tour. Manta rays, dolphins, turtles and reef sharks too. The food was fresh and plentiful, and the crew were so friendly, enthusiastic and full of knowledge. We felt safe the entire time, and could see that the crew really cared about making sure we all had the most memorable experience possible. The boat, Thunder, is a beautiful and comfortable vessel. Amazing photos to take away at the end of the day too (at an additional cost, but very worth it). Highly recommend Coral Bay Ecotours!

We have had a fantastic day out with the team today. The crew were helpful kind and informative. The kit provided was great and the wildlife mostly cooperative! Sadly we didn’t see what sharks ( hence 4 stars ) but the humpback whales weee amazing with stunning displays for us. Watching the manta rays was also an added bonus. Plenty of food and ended with a glass or 3 of bubbles 😍. I had a ball thank you all of you.
