St. Peter's Church

First, this city tour takes you to Munich's oldest church, the Old Peter. The night watchman saw with his own eyes how the devil once hung on the top of Old Peter's tower and fought with the watchman. That is the reason why the tower is still slightly crooked today. After a few steps we are already in the old cemetery and discover stone evidence of the past. What funeral customs were there in the past and where does the saying come from that stinks to heaven?

Old Town Hall

We cross the old city moat of the 12th century and go to the old city gate at the old town hall. The bean counter was also a good acquaintance of the night watchman.

Alter Hof

Passing the torture chamber and city prison, the city tour goes along the old city wall into Burgstraße to the Alten Hof, the first castle of the Bavarian dukes in Munich. The night watchman was also present at the Impler uprising. The citizens managed to chase the duke out of his castle at short notice.

Frauenkirche

We follow the night watchman on his city tour through some narrow dark alleys and suddenly we are standing directly at the cathedral. A weathered tombstone shows the old but rich widow Petronella Stromairin. They learn how she did not let any of the young men who were after her inheritance cheat.

Muenchner Stadtmuseum /Munich Municipal Museum

We follow the Dultstraße to the Dultplatz, today's Jakobsplatz and come to the Zeughaus, the medieval armory of Munich. Halberds and other armaments are kept in it to this day. There the night watchman sings his farewell song: Do you hear people you are safe, go home are without worries, sleep the dear long night, because we faithfully keep watch for you ...

The booking page info was in English and the language for the tour was purposely unclear to lure bookings regardless of language preference. When we asked, the host told us German only and made an American joke/insult for a laugh….interesting approach for a tour business.

Wir hatten eine Nachtwächterin und die war mega super gut. War sehr nett und lustig und hat gut erklärt. Die 2 Stunden waren leider sehr schnell vorbei. Unsere Kinder wussten auch noch nach ein paar Tagen was die Nachtwächterin alles erzählt hat. :)

The tour was really funny and entertaining, you feel like you've been transported back to the beginnings of Munich. The 1 1/2 hours with the Katl flew by and we picked up some interesting information, anecdotes and secrets about today's state capital. We can only recommend the tour to everyone.

Competent "night watchman", very friendly. Personally, we would have liked more sights and fewer stories. The tour actually only went 200 m radius around Marienplatz and then to just before Stachus.
