Consider an engagement party before you begin thinking about the wedding plans and enjoy yourself before you are too involved in planning the big day. Start with a guest list but remember who you invite here may expect an invite to the wedding so be careful!

Look for a venue that suits your style and guest list numbers, and again consider how big the wedding will be; you will not want to overshadow your other plans. It could be you look for a small intimate venue like a pub, bar, or restaurant; or if you have many guests coming a conference hall in a hotel could be a good option.

Catering for an engagement may not have to be a luxurious as the wedding, so a simple buffet or finger food would work well. A restaurant will also be able to provide a set menu for a smaller group setting.

Practice for your wedding day by working on a music playlist, selecting your favour tunes or tracks you think will get the party started. Hiring a DJ could be a good idea, as well as looking at live musical acts. If you are having a particular theme, look at how you can use decorations and may consider party rentals such as photobooths, chocolate fountains or a bouncy castle for the younger guests.

If the engagement is to be held in the summer, perhaps a garden party would be a nice way of celebrating, and food trucks and marquees can be hired for such an occasion.
