Leaving a company can be an emotional time, both for those who are leaving and those who are being left behind. A leaving party is the perfect farewell; and a wonderful way to say thank you.

There are many types of leaving parties, from saying goodbye to senior members of the company such as the Chief Executive Officer, to thanking a group of interns who have supported the business throughout the summer to gain valuable experience. Perhaps a member of your team is retiring after years of amazing service; or are you sadly saying goodbye to a group of employees due to reductions in employee numbers or closure of a department.

Consider where you are holding the party and the number of people you are inviting. Many leaving parties are held in the workplace, but depending on the number of invited guests you may consider hiring a venue or booking an area of a bar or pub.

If the venue is your own workplace think what you will need to provide for you guests. Food? Look for a catering supplier who delivers to your area, or perhaps a food truck if you have the space. Mobile bars can be ordered for an evening and may come with bar staff as well as alcohol. Entertainment can be provided by hiring a DJ or live band; and if you have your own trainee DJs in the company you could look to hiring sound equipment for the party.

External venues may be able to provide catering and entertainment; but you may have to check if you can provide your own as well as decorations such as balloons.
