Networking is great way to meet, form business relationships, explore opportunities, share information and potentially seek partners for ventures. But before the list of participants is done, you need to consider the objectives for the event and how you can achieve these goals.

The location of the event is one of the first considerations - and we all know "location is key". Transportation links are vital to ensure participation rate is high, so make the venue has good parking, is close to good roads and has excellent public transportation options.

The focus of the event is the participants, so the venue needs to fit with the size of the event. No participant wants to wander around a giant hall far apart from other attendees. Areas for private conversations are important. Same goes for ample seating and good facilities. Just like traditional conference rooms, pubs, bars and restaurants are often fully geared up towards networking events.

People love to mingle over food & beverages, so for larger events consider at catering with a buffet or canape style as attendees move around the room. Smaller, more intimate gatherings can benefit from a tabled meal or even a sharable menu. For some networking events alcohol may play a part so if the venue doesn’t come equipped with a bar, there is a wide range of mobile bars that can be rented. Some will come fully stocked and with staff to serve drinks. Events earlier in the day will go down well if hot beverages like tea and coffee are provided. Again, there are mobile versions available. Some vintage coffee bikes will add a bit of style to any event.
