Took my grandson to see this iconic museum. The display of aircraft is amazing, you get a real feeling for how small and flimsy the early craft were. The only disappointment was the behaviour of some very young children running riot ( literally ). They had no interest in the displays only in the play area and running around unsupervised by parents. Making an entry fee would surely stop this? Still a great day out. No complaints about the parking, food and the gift shop.

Absolutely amazing place to keep you and your friends and family entertained for hours At first I thought it was a small museum but when I walked in there were many different hangars with different activities and aviation to view They also have a restaurant which serves food following the aesthetic such as the spitfire wings. Highly recommend to anyone of all ages, there is also a park for the young.

Very good display. Well laid out. Very enjoyable. Would have liked it even more if they had some gliders

Quite enjoyed the museum, even if it’s a bit out of the way. Guides are knowledgeable, staff are nice. Food could use a bit of work, but it’s a museum not a food court.

I recently took a friend from the US to the RAF Museum as we hadn't been for many years and opted for a private tour. Well worth the money as you get a very detailed talk as well as some fantastic insights. There have been many changes since I last visited including opening up of the Sunderland Flying boat and the recovered Halifax bomber. Well worth a visit.

very nice place to visit, much better than the one in raf Cosford. Shame some of the interactions was not working that why a 4 star but the aircraft on show was amazing, the best part for me was viewing the ww1 planes and seeing the sacrifice of the pilots, flying the planes of that age and seeing the jump from wood biplanes to the reapers

There is so much to see and take in it's hard to put into words 😃 so many aircraft! You can get up close to them.Charting the history of flight from embryonic beginning to the sophisticated and HiTec Jet Age. 5-6 hangers to explore at your own pace with aircraft and glass case exhibits time can stand still if you let it. Good cafe for hot & cold food ( and a small snack and coffee area where you can sit down in hanger 1) If like me you have difficulty with mobility, there are Wheelchairs and Mobility scooters you can hire for a donation See Staff as there a limited number available.I want to personally thank the Staff for their attention it's really hard to find places who have such facilities in the UK and I've only recently become more immobile. I would definitely recommend a visit whatever age you are, We travelled from Sheffield and loved every minute 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Service from all who work there👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Free entry is a bonus, for those with families. Two of our family party are ATC Cadets, so the were looking forward to seeing how the RAF has evolved through the years. The planes on display range from the early Flying Corps ones right up to the modern planes. Seeing the Lancaster parked makes you realise how large this plane is, and how brave the Dambuster pilots were to low level fly these planes. Obviously most people clamour to see the Spitfire, not realising that most of the airmen and ground crew preferred the Hurricane, (easy to repair). Shows the radios throughout the history, which my grandchildren (all teenagers) liked as their Great Grandfather was a Flt Sgt and Wireless Operator before, during and after World War II. Able to act out some of the stands, shows how the WAAFS would have been used for incoming raids in the war rooms and you can help save the UK from German bombers. Also able to act out destroying a malware virus on the computers. Showed them the morse code operating equipment which he would have used to send and intercept weapons. Loved seeing the typhoon and the Hawker Sidley, which as I lived in Madrid, I saw being tested at Torrejon, the airfield ran alongside the main motorway. My 17 year old Grandson was really pleased to see the Mosquito as it is one of his favourite planes. Another good thing was the lifesize stand up pictures of people who have served in the RAF and RAF Regiment had their biography on the back. Nice to se the replic of the Dambuster bomb and the equipment used to develop the bomb, there is a short video about the raid, which everyone should see. Impossible to see it all in depth in one day, so we will be returning. Large parking area if you wish to travel by car, which we did from Havering. They also provide lots of picnic areas inside and out, The small cafe allows you to eat inside at their tables as long as you buy a drink. The drinks and cakes and sandwiches are overpriced, so those with large families should take their own food. Play areas around for younger children who may become bored. New exhibitions are opeing next year 2023, so that is anothe reason to return again. Shame they don't offer discounts to members of the ATC in the shops etc, after all they are the future of the RAF in many cases. Overall it is a brilliant day out packed with history on both UK and German planes, shows the brave pilots accomplishments throughout the decades. Well worth a visit and we will be taking a trip back this summer.

Great day out with my little boy, who loved seeing all the planes, helicopters and other flying machines. When you enter the museum, you are tempted to think that everything is in that first hangar...but, don't be fooled! There are further buildings, so more planes to see! Cafe was quite nice, too.

Interactive and interesting museum with many exhibits, an absolute must for anyone interested in planes from the First World War up to present day. Free entry, but you do pay to park. There is a cafe and gift shop on site. Plan to spend about 3-4 hours here.
