Amazing collection of beautiful, historic instruments. More than just violins as there were a wide variety of other stringed instruments in the collection as well. The Museo also has a stunning, small indoor recital hall that occasionally hosts performances that will showcase one of the Stradivarius violins. I am not a classical music expert by any means but we were fortunate enough to see one of these performances and it was truly inspiring. It was an event I will never forget. If you love music and have the chance to attend a performance, I highly recommend it.

Sunday afternoon, too hot to be outside... near Cremona... the "Home of the Violin"... it would have been a sin to pass by. We were so delighted to visit the Museum of the Violin... a wonderful history lesson as well as an appreciation of the skills of mam in devising such versatile musical instruments. Do not pass by!

The artistry and craftsmanship will amaze you as you learn the history of these amazing instruments. In the tour you will learn how they are made, the materials used and the major makers. The museum has a vast collection of instruments to see.

I’m not really into classical music at all. And I never played an instrument. But I like history. And I found the violin museum to be super interesting. I really liked it a lot. And the instruments were beautiful.

CREMONA is known for its artisan workshops that have been producing high quality stringed instruments since the 16th century. We are here for a day to visit the Violin Museum (with an emphasis on Stradivari. They have a large display of violins and other stringed instruments and excellent exhibits about the history of violins and how they are made. A Great Experience!

Despite having no musical training/experience whatsoever, I found this museum to be totally fascinating. It is an attractive building and the exhibits (many of them being interactive) are extremely well thought-out and nicely displayed. Lots of interesting information on the history of the violin, construction of this instrument (comparable to a beautiful piece of furniture) and of course, displays of some incredible Stradivarius violins. Cremona is an easy train trip from Milan and I would highly recommend this museum.

Hands up, I have no particular interest in violins & came purely as a tourist ticking off must do’s in the city of violins. There are various interactive units & info stations for those with a deeper interest. Tour & audio guides are available but I was content with the QR code blurb. The building itself is attractive & the display of centuries old instruments striking & photogenic. It would have been a highlight to witness a concert or audition, but these seemingly only occur at the weekend & the auditorium is closed on other days. Staff were friendly & helpful. There is a nice cafe, which in addition to its interior seating, has tables in a beautiful, al fresco courtyard.

Seeing these priceless violins fulfilled a decades-long dream. Our guide, Clara, gladly shared so much information with us. She helped us have a wonderful experience.

We were surprised that the museum did not offer any acoustic experience. No devices to hear and compare the sounds of the different sorts of violins mentioned or on display in the museum. Also, there were no audioguides available, despite they were advertised at the entrance and warmly recommended. Overall, it was below expectations and also too expensive.
