Capri Island Tour

The isle of Capri is divided into four little villages, two by the sea called Big Marina and Small Marina, and two on the mountains called Capri and Anacapri. In one day, Mondo Guide’s tour guide will help you discover the whole island by sea and by land in the most relaxed way possible. Our clients will first have the chance to set off on an unforgettable tour with a private wooden boat around the whole island to discover the real paradise of nature so well-known worldwide as the “Ever-changing Scenery”. From the Big Marina to Tiberius’ jump, the white grotto with its natural statue of the Virgin Mary, the Natural Arch, the green and coral grottos, through the Arch of Love at the Faraglioni Rocks, past the little Marina and onto the Blue Grotto! Once at the Blue Grotto, we will disembark to enjoy a nice lunch in a restaurant right above it with fabulous terraces overlooking the beautiful Bay of Naples. After lunch, we will go by taxi or private minibus first to Anacapri and then on to the main village of Capri. Our clients will have the chance to visit the Villa San Michele, to ride on the chairlift up to the highest point of the island, Mt. Solaro (Sunny Mountain), to see the famous main square called the “Piazzetta”, the Caesar Augustus Gardens, and, as always, there will be some time for shopping and strolling. From Capri we will take either the Funicular (cable railway), taxi, or private minibus down to the port to board the jet boat where the tour finishes. By that time, as promised, our clients will have seen the whole isle by land and by sea!!! Be smart and get away from the crowds with the Mondo Guide’s guide!

Our private boat tour from Sorrento to Capri was fantastic. There were 4 groups aboard for a total of 9 people + the captain + 1 crew member; perfect amount of people. Dario our contact leading up to the excursion was great; very clear communication and addressed all questions. The captain & crew during our excursion was wonderful. They were safe, polite, knowledgeable about the surrounding area historically, provided great tips for how to make the best use of our time while at Capri, and very friendly. Highly recommend this tour company.

Patty was amazing! Loved everything about her, including her knowledge, her warmth, her ability to keep track of all of us and making sure that all of our needs were met the entire day. We are actually on the ferry right now with her. She made a point to get on the ferry ahead of us to run upstairs and reserve 6 seats for us. She is truly a remarkable tour guide and we could not be more pleased with her and your company. I will definitely share your information with everyone. There is no way that we would have enjoyed the Isle of Capri on our own as much as we enjoyed it with her as our guide. We had great time with our very personable guide - Andrea!!. The pick up from the hotel at Sorrento was timely and Andrea was very detailed about the different steps involved in our Private tour of Capri. He was able to get us into the Ferry transfer to Capri - ahead of the others in the regular boarding line (this was very helpful due to the heat in July). The Private Boat (Captained by Giovanni and his son as assistant) was ready for us to leave as soon as we reached Capri. This was very advantageous for us to get to the Blue Grotto immediately (before the rest of the crowd from the Ferry). Our wait time at Blue Grotto was only ~10 minutes - unique experience inside the Blue Grotto (remember to take off your sun glasses inside). Giovanni - boat captain did a great job by getting us really close to the other Grotto's around Capri - the two hours went by really quickly. Our "Open Car" Drive from Capri to Anacapri was really nice. Cable Chair lift to Monte Solaro was very nice with Andrea explaining all the intricate details at the Villa San Michele. Our return to Sorrento by the Ferry was relaxing (Andrea was able to get us ahead of the long lines into the Ferry). The transfer from Sorrento Pier back to the hotel is a must - since we were really tired at the end of the trip. Overall - the tour was organized and executed meticulously. Highly recommend - ask for Andrea as your guide (he is the best). A&R (Maryland, USA)

our tour of capri was excellent. we did a tour around the island by boat, had an excellent lunch and then spent time on land. We saw Capri, Anacapri and went to the very top. Patty was our guide and she was excellent, she quickly became part of our family and was very flexible with changes throughout the day. First off, the crew was very knowledgeable and very considerate. The vessel was clean and a gorgeous teak wood boat which added to the experience. The crew completely prepared us with the best way to see Capri with the limited time we had. The views on the boat while making our way to Capri did not disappoint. They showed many points of interest and historical markers along the way. Again, very knowledgeable.

We had a wonderful visit to Capri and Barbara, our guide, was lovely. She was very attentive, informative and helpful! At the end of the day we felt we learned more about the island and made a new friend as well. Due to the choppy serf we couldn't go around the entire island by boat nor could we go to the top of Anacapri due to clouds, but Barbara did a very nice job of showing us the rest of the island! We loved the fact that we were picked up from our hotel, helped with the ferry process, and then droped right back off at our hotel at the end of the day. I have been looking forward to reviewing our fantastic tour of Capri! We booked this tour before we left home from reading Rick Steve’s guide book on Italy. We were picked up at our Sorrento hotel exactly on time and taken to the Sorrento dock. There were 6 of us in our boat, a nice small group. We set off for Capri but about 15 minutes into the ride one girl got very sick, panicked and collapsed! Andre, our guide, acted decisively and quickly and turned the boat around and took her and her friend back to the dock in Sorrento where she received medical attention. We set off again and headed straight to the famous Blue Grotto arriving later than planned. Andre told us we would have a 30 minute wait and as a group we decided to go for it. It was a beautiful day and the 4 of us did not mind waiting. Well, Andre must have had connections because within 5 minutes the small rowboat that takes you into the grotto was at Andre’s boat. All 4 of us got in. Have your money ready when the rowboat picks you up! He sang while he rowed. It was SO WORTH IT! Gorgeous blue water but it is this color all around the island. Not just the blue grotto! Andre toured around the entire island, showed us several other grottos, answered our many questions, took pictures (he is good with an iPhone), and was a really fun guide. He gave us our lunch and dropped us off at the smaller of the two Marina’s (the Grande Marina is way too crowded with large cruise boats. This was faster). We had 4 hours on the island which was perfect. My husband I walk up to the shops, 20 minute walk, you don’t need to take the bus! The walk is easy and you pass adorable homes. It did rain for about 40 min (a deluge, actually, bring a light rain jacket. We took refuge in a shop. It was kinda fun, actually) but it cleared up just in time to meet Andre back at Marina Piccola. We were all on time. Then we swam for about an hour. Andre passed us noodles, coke (champagne if you wanted it) to drink while we swam in the water! We had time to dry off in the sun on the board before going through the famous rock cave and then back to Sorrento with a stop at a fresh water waterfall. The van took us back to our hotel. We were home by 5:00 PM, plenty of time to shower and head into Sorrento via a free shuttle with our hotel for a delightful dinner in Sorrento. We had just toured all of Italy yet this full day on a private boat was the highlight of our whole time in Italy! I mean, jumping off a boat and swimming in the Mediterranean Ocean in gorgeous blue water! We tipped our guide. Bring cash and tip well! ONE WARNING: you must be comfortable in a boat and on the water!! You ride over the wake of larger boats. There is a lot of motion. If you get motion sick at all then take Dramamine OR tell them you want to be in a larger boat. We were in a smaller boat because our group was small. We brought our hotel towel, just FYI. We experienced what can happen when a passenger is not prepared for boating, the water and the movement. I LOVE boating and water, but if you don’t, just request a larger boat and take Dramamine. They have all different sizes of boats. Bring cash for tipping, rain gear, a towel, a camera, a smile and ENJOY!

This tour lived up to what you’d expect and more from a tour associated with Rick Steves. From the time we were picked up from our hotel to when we were on the boat was about 20 minutes. Our guide, Francesco, gave made us feel welcome and comfortable from the beginning. He thoroughly explained the logistics of the day as well as the things we would be seeing. We were a bit disappointed with the time on land just because it was so crowded with tourists. However, it was made up for many times over once we were were back on the boat. We had delicious sandwiches and ample beverages as we circled the island. The chance to swim in the crystal clear blue water was a highlight. The whole trip was navigated for us and made it an incredibly fun, relaxing day.
