Florence

See the most important landmarks of the city center like the fabulous Signoria Square, marble Dome with its bell tower, the Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge). If you have Walking tour included the tour will terminate a the characteristic Central Market where you will have the opportunity to taste many local dishes and by excellent local products

Palazzo Pitti

(Pass by)

Visit this historic palace, which became the main home of the ruling families of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany. It was the centre of government for the 300 years that Tuscany was a monarchy. Later the palace was used as a base by Napoleon. During the Risorgimento, for a short time it was the royal palace of the newly united Italy.

Ponte Vecchio

(Pass by)

Walk through Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge) a medieval stone closed-spandrel segmental arch bridge noted for the shops built along it.

Campanile di Giotto

(Pass by)

Admire a free-standing campanile that is part of the complex of buildings that make up Florence Cathedral. The unusual position of the bell tower, aligned with the facade, reflects the desire to give it great importance as a sign of strong verticality at the center of the Insula Episcopalis, as well as probably the practical need to free the view of the apse area for the large dome, foreseen since Arnolfian project. Giotto provided an original design for the bell tower, with a pyramidal cusp termination 50 Florentine arms high (about 40 metres), according to which the total elevation should have been approximately 120-125 metres. A drawing preserved in the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo in Siena is considered by some scholars to be inspired by this project.

Basilica of Santa Croce

(Pass by)

Walk through this square where you can admire Basilica di Santa Croce, one of the largest Franciscan churches and one of the greatest Gothic achievements in Italy, and has the rank of minor basilica. It is an Italian national monument.

Galleria Palatina in Palazzo Pitti

(Pass by)

Visit Palatine Gallery, is a museum housed in Palazzo Pitti in Florence. Housed within the architectural complex, it is located on the main floor, divided into 28 rooms that extend into the rear northern lateral wing of the architectural complex and into the northern lateral part and central rear part of the main building of the palace. This is the "picture gallery" of the Grand Dukes of Tuscany: the layout in fact respects the taste of past centuries, with the paintings placed in several rows, selected for decorative criteria, and not by period and schools. Chronologically, with a few exceptions, the paintings mainly cover the 16th and 17th centuries, making it one of the most important museums of its kind in Italy, as well as an obligatory stop for learning about the history of European collecting.

Basilica di San Lorenzo

(Pass by)

Walk through Basilica of San Lorenzo, one of the main Catholic places of worship in Florence, located in the square of the same name in the historic center of the city. It is one of the churches that compete for the title of the oldest in the city and has the dignity of a minor basilica[1]. The San Lorenzo market is held near the church.

Duomo - Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore

(Pass by)

Admire Florence Cathedral and its complex which includes the Baptistery and Giotto's Campanile. These three buildings are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site

Mercato Centrale

(Pass by)

Visit Central Market, one of the results from the time of risanamento, during the late nineteenth century. Inside, is possible to find primary ingredients of Tuscan cuisine, fruits and vegetable stands as well as nuts and spices. Outside, you can find leather goods.

Piazza della Signoria

(Pass by)

Walk through this square in front of the Palazzo Vecchio, also shared with the Loggia della Signoria. It is the main point of the origin and history of the Florentine Republic and gateway to Uffizi Gallery.

Great day out to Florence from Livorno spent about 5 hours in the city A walking tour of the main sites included Back in plenty of time for the ship The only issue was we were told to look for staff in red but they were wearing green

The guide was informative. The amount of free time was excellent. The drop off point a bit far but doable

Efficient and timely check in, transfer and return. Bus was comfortable. Our guide was informative and provided information to help with our own exploration of Florence.

Well organised, very friendly guide, all was done in time. High recommend to anyone travelling on a cruise with jot too much time.

The transfer bus was only 30 meters behind the cruise ship shuttle. The bus was parked near the train station. One has to walk 20 minutes to the Cathedral. At the end of the day, we were dropped off at the cruise ship terminal.

This was my first time booking Viator and I am also a travel agent. The experience was not pleasant. First, I thought we had booked a small van transfer for 6-8 people. Instead, it was a large bus for a round 60 people. We were supposed to leave Livorno at 9:45 am but could not get on the first bus because the operator was selling tickets and not allowing the reserved prepaid passengers on the bus. We had to wait for the 2nd but that left at 10:20 instead. We were supposed to be back at the ship at 5:15 but because of the unorganized outbound we did not leave Florence till 4:30, getting us back at the boat at 6:00, which caused stress for everyone.

Florence was one of the most beautiful cities we’ve ever explored! It was so nice to have the option to venture on your own. Upon return, we were supposed to be dropped off to Livorno Center to take a transfer shuttle back to port, but since we were tight on time, our guide and driver were accommodating and brought us directly back to port! Thank you so much for guaranteeing return on time!

I prefer independence when touring cities so this Livorno to Florence transfer was perfect & the price beat the cruise line’s offer & had more time in Florence. Guides were pleasant & bus was clean. Would definitely take any Viator excursion.

Our bus driver and tour person were very nice and the tour person was very funny. We were told our tour would start at 9:45 am but that morning we received a txt saying we needed to be at the meeting place at 9:00 am. So we really had to hop to it!

We loved this transfer to Florence for the day. Our ship docked late but the bus was still waiting for us all. We left as soon as possible and we were given 5.5 hours of free time in the city. Our pickup and drop off point were the same. The guide was informative and even gave us private phone numbers in case of emergency. We left right on time to return to ship. Drivers both ways were excellent. We had a double decker bus and it was clean and modern and comfortable. They dropped off right at ship so we didn’t have to do that port shuttle.
