Your Itinerary

Leaning Tower of Pisa

First, your driver will suggest that you visit Pisa. On arrival, you will have about 45 minutes to take photos of the city’s UNESCO-listed Leaning Tower (from outside), and take in the sights around the Piazza dei Miracoli, the square that surrounds it.

Piazza dei Miracoli

Piazzale Michelangelo

Arriving in Florence, beautiful Renaissance city, after a roughly 1-hour drive. Once here first stop will be Piazzale Michelangelo for stunning views over the city’s skyline. Breath - Taking view and photos of Florence!

Ponte Vecchio

The Ponte Vecchio ("Old Bridge") is a medieval stone closed-spandrel segmental arch bridge over the Arno River noted for still having shops built along it with jewelers, art dealers and souvenir sellers.

Duomo - Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore

Florence's Duomo is the city's most iconic landmark. Capped by Filippo Brunelleschi's red-tiled cupola, it's a staggering construction whose breathtaking pink, white and green marble facade and graceful campanile dominate the Renaissance cityscape. Sienese architect Arnolfo di Cambio began work on it in 1296, but construction took almost 150 years and it wasn't consecrated until 1436. Admission Not Included.

First of all the statue of David (1501), symbol of Florence in the world and masterpiece of the Renaissance, carried in these areas in 1873 to protect it from the weather. With its beauty and strength the David symbolizes the power and freedom of the Florentine Republic, embodied by the Palazzo Vecchio, in front of which the statue was originally placed.

Mercato Centrale

Piazza della Signoria

Piazza della Signoria is located halfway between the Duomo and the River Arno and represents, together with the Palace of the same name, the heart of Florence political life; the Square is L-shaped and is the result of different architectural interventions as well as the place where every day, thousands of tourists meet to visit the Fountain of Neptune, the Loggia della Signoria and that centuries-old Palace of course with in front the copy of David of Michelangelo.

Perhaps it was the tour we picked, but it was very disappointing. The reviews of this tour mentioned such helpful and informative guides/drivers and we've had nothing but great Viator tours until this one. Our driver did not speak English well at all and offered very little in the way of telling us about anything we were viewing. Pisa was very impressive but we had no info on any of the buildings which we should or shouldn't see. We got there about 9:30 and the basilica didn't open until 10:00 so we had 30 minutes to wait. And it didn't probably help that it was extremely hot.

We then drove to Florence where we had hoped to see David. Our guide took us to a really good viewing point of the city and took us to his recommended lunch pizzeria - not impressive a cover charge for lunch?!. Then when we went to the museum to see David there was an incredible line 3 hours in the blazing sun to get in. No way. Our suggestion would be to alert tourists about the crowded conditions at the museum and for Viator to set up some sort of no-line arrangement/tour with the museum. We would certainly have been willing to pay a bit more for that inclusion.

Giorgio was a great driver and guide. He did a great job in answering all of our questions and providing information. Great personality and great driver/guide.
