Etna was beautiful as expected but the guide was neither nice nor good. Very expensive tour as well.

Fab trip which included exactly what we were looking for. Bus to cable car, then cable car to top, then a walk around some craters and great viewing experience.

We had a fantastic trip to Mount Etna with a very useful and informative guide and a driver who managed to negotiate all of the tight turns in the roads between Taormina and Etna. Arriving at the base camp, we were led to the cable car, then to the jeeps to take us to the high craters, where we could walk around and hear from another guide with relevant information on the history of Etna. Overall, an amazing trip helped by each of the guided, and we would thoroughly recommend this trip to others!

The bus broke down causing delayed arrival to Mt Etna, no tour guide on replacement bus, poor description of the half day tour as had to wait for all full day tour folks to return before leaving Mt Etna. Half day tour folks ended up arriving late standing around in gas station during the morning waiting for repairs or a new bus. Did not get back to Taormina hotel until after 6PM for what was advertised as a half day tour. The plans we had for that afternoon were lost. The half day tour of Mt Etna is not recommended and is poorly advertised.

The tour was really good, easy pick up at the main Taormina bus station. The tour guide was informative throughout the journey. It was good to be left to walk alone around the craters at 1900ft. I felt it was plenty of time to be left to walk, check the shops and grab something to eat/drink before getting back on the coach. Easy pick up later back to Taormina and again tour guide provided good information on the trip back to Taormina. Would definitely recommend.

Booked through ‘Get Your Guide’. The tour was pretty well organised at the bus terminal (08:30 pick) but do not be afraid to confirm you are on a list for what looks the right bus. The trip itself is about an hour and a half on the road with about a half hour getting up the Etna slopes. Your tour guide allowed 15 mins for a bathroom break at the Etna drop off point which is where you also receive your cable car and upper slopes pass. Cable car was fun with some amazing scenery on the way up. You are then at about 2800m then queue for the 4WD jeep-bus to the upper slopes where your mountain guide takes over and you climb a short trek to the highest point you can go 3300m). We had Marco who provided an interesting summary of recent volcanic activity mixed with geological facts and figures. Really nice guy who answered many questions but also found time for a team photo! Do listen to these guys. If they say stay in area, stay there; unlike a few bozos who insisted on wondering off and even challenged the guide when he ordered them back on safety grounds. Could not really fault the Etna trip. If I had one criticism it is that we could have had more time on upper slopes. However, it gets very busy and they have to move people through. We departed at 13:00 back to Taormina bus terminal. A most amazing experience - thoroughly recommended.

The coastal route to Mount Etna was a beautiful drive. Once there the coach parked near a cafe/restaurant and we were told there was time for a snack and to use the toilet. The queue for the ladies toilet was ridiculous. It was a 20 minute wait. TIP There are toilets at the cable car station and down near the gift shop. There was a long queue for the cable car and another long queue for the jeeps. TIP The queues thin out about 2pm. It was very atmospheric near the summit. It felt like another planet. Although the weather on the ground had been clear skies, the clouds had gathered and there were no clear sightings. You have to be reasonably fit to walk right up to top.

We really enjoyed this trip. Our guide on the coach to Mt Etna was very helpful, friendly and kept us informed and gave useful information. The coach was clean and modern, the cable car and 4x4 were efficient and our guide on the walk up to the summit was informative. Mt Etna itself was very interesting. Overall a very good excursion.

Pick-up from the Taormina bus station was at 8:30 in the morning, after many stops our fully loaded huge double-decker bus arrived at the refugio at about 10:40. If you elect to go to the top (you should) then you will get on the Gondola, at the top of the gondola you get on a 4WD bus that will take you to a parking spot. From here your alpine guide will take you to see the craters and look at the summit. On the day I went the summit and the craters were clear but clouds obscured the view of the sea. After going back down to the refugio and getting some lunch we boarded the bus at 14:15 and arrived back in Taormina after 16:00. The only people I would recommend this tour to are solo travelers who are afraid to drive. For others try to find a small group tour. Better yet rent a car and drive, even for a solo traveler the cost will be about the same. If you are two or more then you will save money! Arrive when the lift opens at 8:30 for a better chance of clear views. Bottom line...would I take this tour again, no.
