Piazza Navona

First, your expert foodie will guide you on a nice stroll through different neighborhoods of Rome like Campo de Fiori, Trastevere, Piazza Navona to visit a mix of culturally significant and neighborhood pizzerias which vary in taste and style to ensure you will have the ultimate pizza experience.

Trastevere

Besides learning about the histories and legends behind pizza, you will try different kinds of Roman pizza, Neapolitan pizza, thick crust, thin crust, "pizza bianca" (literal translation is the white pizza). This is the kind of pizza that has no topping, no cheese, no filling .. yet taste so amazing because you are going to take you to the best place in Rome to try this kind of pizza!

Campo de' Fiori

The ultimate pizza tour cannot be complete without learning the secrets of what making pizza in Italy tastes so good. During this tour, you will also have a hands-on making pizza, under a guidance of an Italian "pizzaiolo". Along with the guide, discover the ingredients used, the technicality of what makes the pizza taste so special.

Savor Italy Tours

Particularly, the "pizzaiolo" will explain how the dough is made (the dough needs to rest for at least 24-48 hours if it is made correctly ), so you are going to work with a different dough and learn how to make your own pizza the traditional way ( without the rolling pin ) on a marble countertop ( there are only a few pizzerias in Rome with this ). Then, see how your pizza is cooked in a traditional wood-fired oven, and enjoy your creation with new friends that you have to meet on the tour!

Savor Italy Tours was incredibly disappointing and a huge waste of time and money. We were quite unhappy with the purchase we made for our tour. It was an unpleasant experience where we definitely did not receive the value of our money spent. First off, we were told the tour began at 9:30. We were given no instructions on where to meet for the beginning of our tour so we took it upon ourselves to send an email the day before asking for more information. We were then told in a response from the tour: “see you at 11.” Very disorganized and unprofessional. What a mess. Had we not sent that email we would’ve had nowhere to meet and the wrong meeting time. Secondly, When we did show up at the meeting point given our tour guide said she was a substitute and had never led this tour before. We should have been told this in advance so we could decide ourselves whether or not we wanted to continue with the tour. It is extremely aggravating and disappointing to be given false advertisements from the website. The tour guide was very nice but did not give us the tour information we were told to expect. We went to some pizza places that we would have never found on our own, and they were all different but delicious! The best part was making our own pizza the traditional way without a rolling pin and was shown how to artistically decorate our own pizza with whatever we liked! We had a great chef that day that makes the pizza making class seems so easy and something we could do at home on our own. Overall, great fun experience! 5 stars.

Taken to a few pizza joints and made pizza in a pizza restaurant. It was OK but not as great as other food tours we have been on.
