The tiles are arranged inside a "House Museum" inhabited by the owners and can be visited all year round by booking a guided tour.Other minor collections of old toys, tin boxes, terracotta tiles, and period stationery objects are also exhibited. Il Museo delle Maioliche Stanze al Genio ospita all'interno di una parte del piano nobile di Palazzo Torre Pirajno una collezione con oltre 5000 esemplari di mattonelle in maiolica dal XV al XIX secolo. Le mattonelle sono disposte all'interno di una "Casa Museo" abitata dai proprietari e visitabile tutto l'anno prenotando la visita guidata. Sono anche esposte altre collezioni minori di vecchi giocatoli,scatole di latta,le formelle di terracotta per preparare i dolci (XVIII-XIX secolo) ed oggetti di cancelleria d'epoca

The amount of items in this personal collection was impressive. There was some confusion in the staff accepting our tickets because it conflicted with a museum event.
Great museum with a nice guided tour. However one star, for the outrageous treatment we received after staying on the terrace. We stayed at the B&B and we asked if we could stay and work from there until 2.30pm and we were told that is not a problem. Than during our work (conference call) we were yelled at by the cleaning staff. The owner called us during our video conference to say they will call the police if we don’t leave. We are traveling a lot but something like this has never happened to us and we were scared and sad to see such behavior. I am usually not vindictive, but in this case I wish the owner and the cleaners personally that they will experience a similar treatment in their life.

This is a small gem of a museum that doubles as a private residence in a 17th palazzo. Every room is filled with difference examples from different time period, exemplifying different production level. All is explained by an erudite guide. Highly recommended for those who would enjoy an experience a bit off the beaten track.
Fascinating series of rooms with beautifully presented displays of tiles. Our guide was personable and highly knowledgeable and helped us to understand the development of tile making in Italy and, in particularly, Sicily and how they were used throughout the last thousand years. A real hidden gem.
El museo te permite una experiencia muy particular, es muy original. La colección es impresionante, sin duda lo recomiendo, te hacen una explicación personal durante el recorrido y sientes que está viendo algo inédito. Sin lugar a duda es un panorama extravagante y entretenido. Ojalá costara un poco más barato, pero se entiende el precio de igual manera.
