Your Itinerary

Laguna di Venezia

(Pass by)

If we told you there was a way to experience an authentic side of Venice without the crowds, would you believe us? The secret lies in getting away from Piazza San Marco and venturing further out to explore smaller islands strewn throughout the marshy, magical Venice Lagoon.

Chiesa di San Martino

(Pass by)

This church was rebuilt several times and took on its present appearance between 1500 and 1600. It was consecrated on 29 October 1645 by the then bishop of Torcello Marco Antonio Martinengo. Over the centuries it underwent several restorations, while preserving the ancient architecture. Seen from the outside, the church lacks a main entrance, in fact you enter laterally through a Renaissance door, near the Chapel of Santa Barbara.

Burano

Further north in the lagoon lies Burano, a fishing island made up of hundreds of colorful houses that earn it the title of one of the most colorful towns in the world. Unlike Murano, which enjoyed industrial prowess for much of its history, Burano remained largely agricultural and fishing was its main industry. The colored houses are said to have been painted in bright hues to help fishermen navigate the lagoon on foggy days. Burano is also well-known for its lacemaking traditions, which originated in the 16th century.

Sylvia is AMAZING! Thank you for sharing with us a glimpse into your life in Burano and all of the things that go with it. What a wonderful tour. She is so knowledgeable and was so patient with all our questions. Thank you. I’d hands down recommend this tour.

Sylvia was so warm and friendly and provided lots of interesting information about Burano. We saw things we would not have seen otherwise. It was a lovely experience.

Sylvia was great! Perfect tour, full of information of the town and local life. Just what we were looking for.

The best experience we had in Venice. Our tour guide was amazing and provided a very special tour of Burano and gave us information on history of island and tour included areas outside the tourist centre.

What an amazing tour!! My 16 yr old son and I agreed that this was the best tour we did during our 10 days in Italy (Venice/Florence/Rome). Silvia is not only a delightful person, but she really made the island and history of surrounding islands come alive both past and present. If you are anywhere near Burano - DEFINTELY DO THIS TOUR!!

Highly recommend! I was so pleasantly surprised by this tour- such a beautiful place to visit. The tour guide is local to Burano and clearly loves showing it to visitors. I would leave plenty of time after the tour to wander around, eat, relax and enjoy!

Silvia is amazing. We picked the one day that was pouring rain and freezing. My fiancée and I somehow barely noticed in the tour. With Silvia it was like meeting up with a friend who happens to know everything about the city. It was the most natural and interactive feeling tour I’ve ever been on. She clearly loves (and knows seemingly everything, and everyone in) the city. She’s also very prepared and showed up happy to guide; even in the pouring rain - complete with laminated images that helped us understand the history. We could not recommend her more highly.

Silvia was an extraordinary guide to Burano, sharing information about the island's history and the ways in which cultural change and climate change are threatening Burano. She also told us stories about her family's life on the island, for four generations. We all learned so much, and felt warmly welcomed to this small, beautiful island. Silvia's tour was fascinating for all ages (our kids are 16, 13, and 10). This tour, and our visit to Burano, were one of the major highlights of our time in Venice!

If you are lucky enough to visit the beautiful island of Burano, please do yourself a huge favor and book this tour. We met Silvia and instantly formed a connection…she is so friendly and so happy! You can tell she is proud of her home! Since she lives on Burano she told us some history, fun facts, and answered all of our questions. I wish we could’ve stayed with her for hours. This was THE BEST part of our vacation for sure. We hope to visit Burano again and meet up with Silvia who feels like an old friend.

Sylvia was wonderful, having grown up in Burano she was able to add personal touches to her discussion of the history of Burano. She takes you to the non touristy places which is a welcome relief from the busy streets.
