Your Itinerary

Colosseum

Skip the lines and start exploring the ancient Colosseum with your passionate local guide, who will transport you back in time with tales of the gruesome battles and epic spectacles that once took place here. You will have access to the first and second tiers of the Colosseum, reserved only for the elite classes of Rome. Learn about the Colosseum's construction and the bloody battles that shaped Roman history. After an hour in the mighty arena, you'll be ready for more of the ancient city. Please note that depending on the assigned entry time for the Colosseum, your tour might enter the Roman Forum first and end in the Colosseum.

Admission Included

Roman Forum

After visiting the Colosseum, explore the ancient Roman Forum with your guide. Located in close proximity to the Colosseum is the Roman Forum, the downtown area of ancient Rome. With your expert guide, discover some of the most prominent structures in the Roman Forum, such as the Temple of Julius Caesar, Arch of Titus, and the Roman Senate House. Walk the same paths as famous Roman emperors and philosophers and relive ancient history.

Admission Included

Palatine Hill

Your guide will take you from the ancient downtown to what we like to call the "Beverly Hills of Ancient Rome." As you ascend Palatine Hill, enjoy breath-taking views of Circus Maximus. You'll explore the 2,000-year-old palaces and learn about the stories of Rome's rich and famous.. With its panoramic views of the city and being the place where Roman was said to originally have been founded by the famous twins Romulus and Remus. Walk on the marble remainders of Rome's greatest and let our guide introduce you palaces and artefacts of up to 2000 year old.

Admission Included

Vatican Museums

After some free time for lunch your guide will meet you at a designated meeting point at the Vatican for the 2nd part of your tour. Skipping the Queue into the Vatican Museums your journey will continue effortlessly. Your expert guide will take you on a tour of the Vatican Museums, where you'll explore the Candelabra Gallery, Gallery of the Tapestries, and Gallery of Maps. Discover the beautiful ancient Greek and Roman statues, Flemish tapestries made by Raphael's students, and the stunning topographical maps of Italy commissioned by Pope Gregory XIII during the height of the Roman Empire. Your guide will reveal the intriguing stories behind these incredible works of art as you delve deeper into the secrets of the Vatican.

Admission Included

Sistine Chapel

Visiting the Sistine Chapel is a must-do when in Vatican City. This private chapel of the pope is where cardinals gather to elect a new pope. The reason why the Sistine Chapel is one of the most celebrated works of art in western civilization becomes clear once inside. Michelangelo painted over 600 figures in his masterpiece, an astounding feat. Take in the vivid depictions of biblical stories, from Genesis to Revelations, including the famous Creation of Man and Last Judgement. Since the Sistine Chapel is a place of worship, speaking inside is prohibited. Your guide will provide detailed explanations before entering. To enter the Sistine Chapel, both men and women must cover their knees and shoulders, otherwise, the Vatican might refuse entry to religious sites and you’ll miss out on a portion of your tour. We understand the summers in Rome can be hot, so a great alternative is to bring a shawl/scarf/sweater with you. That way you can cover your knees and shoulders when necessary.

Admission Included

St. Peter's Basilica

St. Peter's Basilica - (Except on Wednesdays!) The last stop of your tour brings you to St. Peter's Basilica. Accompanied by your guide, you'll enter through a dedicated corridor for groups, granting swift access to the basilica skipping the long queues that often appear on the square. Inside, you'll have the opportunity to witness the Vatican's most esteemed church, believed to house the remains of St. Peter himself. Your guide will introduce you to the cathedral before you enter to explore on your own, allowing you all the time you need to take in the beauty of this religious site. Admire the architecture and art, including Michelangelo's La Pietà and Bernini's Baldacchino, and bask in the peaceful atmosphere of this spiritual sanctuary. Please note that St. Peter's Basilica is closed on Wednesdays for the Papal Audience and can occasionally experience other unexpected closures. If this happens, your guide will make up the time at other areas within the Vatican.

Great tour if you want to see all the major attractions of Rome in one day. Roberta, our guide, was very knowledgeable and walking to the Roman forum, we got to see and learn about things we would probably not have even seen otherwise. This is not a tour for people who want to stand admiring art for hours but definitely a tour for those who want to see everything on their trip. A bit pricey but when you count the entry fees into the Vatican, Roman forum, and Coliseum, it's well worth it, as you'll probably end up paying that anyway

We thoroughly enjoyed The Tour Guy small group tours of the Colosseum, Palatine Hill, Forum and the Vatican. The guides were excellent and the company did a great job of communicating with us.

The guides were good but the tour description is misleading. The tour was two separate tours but we only heard from the morning tour guide so we assumed this was one tour. We didn't realize we had to get ourselves to the Vatican for the second part. Our morning tour guide had no and when we asked about the second part she had to contact the office to give us the details. We had to leave the first tour early in order to get to the second tour meeting spot in time via taxi.

When I took this tour in 2022, I only did the Vatican (and museums) tour. It appears they’ve changed the offering. It was really outstanding and I highly recommend this tour company. I’ve forgotten my tour guides name, but she was fantastic and her knowledge was impressive. She was a post-graduate degree holder in exactly the type of history you see at the Vatican, museums, etc. I had absolutely zero complaints.

Mrs. Broccoli was an excellent guide. The crowds weren't too large. There are a lot of rules on what women can wear. Know the rules so you won't be disappointed. The tour is a lot of walking.

2 separate tours. Firstly Coosseum and Roman forum in the meeting and then Vatican in the afternoon. Finding the meeting points was easy enough. Each tour was really interesting and we saw a lot in 1 day. The tour of the Vatican was very fast paced. I enjoyed both the tours. However I don't recommend the combo tour. Between tours there was very little time to get across to the meeting place of the second tour and no time to have any lunch. Despite what you read it is not possible to get there by walking in the time given due to distance, many people in the street, and traffic and waiting to cross roads. We had to get a taxi which cost us another 25 euro which I was not happy about. It was a long and tiring day.

This combo tour was cancelled without any notice. We booked this combo tour for Sept 25, 2023 more than 2 months ago before leaving for Italy. We arrived at the meeting point outside the Colosseum metro station on Sept 25 by 9am as per the booking instruction but were told that they couldn't find our booking in their system. The staff (from The Tour Guy) claimed that Viator did not forward our booking details to them, and they couldn't accommodate us. The staff said all they can do is to issue a full refund. We weren't even compensated for our lost time and lost experience, and our children were very very sad and disappointed. That was our last day in Italy and this unreasonable tour cancellation without any notice really ruined our last day in Italy. One staff suggested we book with the tour operator directly next time.

Really enjoyed the Colosseum and Roman Forum tour in the morning! The guide was really engaging and knowledgeable. We would say that the organisation wasn’t great between the morning and the afternoon tour which was at Vatican City. You also have to arrange your own transportation between areas which will involve public transport so just keep this in mind. We would suggest booking the tours separately on different days if you can - this means you can spend time exploring both areas on each day and have no rush to get to the next stop.

Alison_L

We booked this tour because it said groups no bigger than 14. Well, we had 29 in our group. It was far too big! So disappointed because you just followed along in a huge group, stopping to bunch up, difficult to connect with the guide.

Scammed, you should not advertise this as one trip. I turned up and did the coliseum and at end was told that was end of the trip, no details on what to do or how to get to Vatican City. Was advised from coliseum to get taxi to Vatican City. No time given and I had assumed we would be taken there. I tried to contact but couldn’t get a response and no one at meeting point. Therefore had to pay again to do Vatican and refused refund despite being at correct meeting point and followingTHEIR instructions on google maps! And Viator just ignored me when asking for help and who to complain to. A joke you should not use them at all
