Pompeii Archaeological Park

Pompei is the most famous and the most visited archaeological site in Italy, but also the best preserved for the way it was buried in ash and pumice after a tremendous eruption of mount Vesuvius in 79 a.d. The Pompei city stayed buried for about 18 centuries and then it was rediscovered together with the other smaller city of Herculaneum. Still nowadays some of it is waiting to be excavated. In Pompeii you may spend a couple of hours in order to see the best of highlights like the Forum, which is the main square of the ancient city and its political, religious, commercial heart. Around the Forum are the most important civic buildings of Pompeii and also the best preserved public Baths, Terme del Foro, where you can appreciate not only the good state of preservation of some vaulted roofs, but also the best of stuccoed relief, and original mosaic floors, together with a very sophisticated example of central heating system.

Sorrento

The tour from Pompeii will proceed along the twisty bendy Sorrentina state road, which will lead you onto Sorrento, the pearl of the whole coast. You will agree with driver some free time to explore at your pace some Sorrento historical centre with the tiny colourful lanes full of the traditional shops selling souvenirs, among them the famous inlaid wood work and agree free time for lunch if you wish.

Positano

After the Sorrento break you will be heading towards the most dramatic scenery of the gorgeous Amalfi coast with its rocky, lime stone cliffs, sloping down to the most amazing emerald blue colours of Tyrrhenian Sea. Your private driver will approach the closest point to the Positano historical centre, where big vehicles are not permitted, and give you time to explore the whole of the village, where to be fully immersed in a most unreal atmosphere which is what one can fully breath through the tiny little streets and flight of steps, leading down to the big sandy Marina beach, and close to the parish local church of Annunziata, with its majolica dome towering the whole village.

We had a great day on this tour. Roberto was an excellent driver and tour guide. He gave us time at each site , and took us to a perfect place for lunch that met our time needs. My family and I can't rave enough about our experience with Sorrento Silver Star Tours! If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. Roberto was our FABULOUS driver who afforded us a personal experience that went above and beyond our wildest expectations. From the moment he picked us up from Napoli's train station to the moment he dropped us back off, he gave us his 110%! This was our first family vacation to Italy, it was late July, the weather was off the charts hot (from what we are used to anyway), and after touring Pompeii (amazing tour with Louisa), we needed to cool off. Knowing all of that, while we were on our Pompeii adventure, Roberto made arrangements/reservations for us to eat at an amazing restaurant in the beautiful coastal town of Minori, along the Amalfi coast. This restaurant had access to a private beach and Roberto made our dreams of swimming in the Mediterranean a reality! He arranged for the restaurant to allow us access to the private beach and our time spent swimming in that amazing water left us wanting more...it was so hard to leave! This little excursion was a day trip for us, as we were staying in Rome, so it was amazing to have this family beach time...we left with just the best memories of that day. Roberto, you are a wonderful driver, host, tour guide, and now a great friend!!! You really made us feel like we were apart of your family. The way someone makes you feel says more about them than any words that can ever be spoken. A huge THANK YOU to Sorrento Silver Star Tours and, especially, Roberto! Bravo to Sorrento Silver Star Tours! We booked a car to pick us up at the Naples train station, take us to Pompeii, drive along part of the Amalfi coast and then take us back to the train station. Roberto was wonderful! He met us at the station and took us to Pompeii where Luisa had arranged a tour guide for us. The tour guide, also named Luisa, was WONDERFUL! She was so passionate about Pompeii and the history and really made the visit fun, engaging and interesting. She was so thoughtful and helpful and really made the visit special. After the tour, Roberto arranged for us to have a lunch at a restaurant at the beach in Sorrento and then drove us along the coast to see Positano, before going back to the train station. I would HIGHLY recommend this car service for anyone visiting the area needing a transfer or wanting to tour Pompeii. They are the best. Luisa at the company was very responsive prior to our trip. All was great!

Wonderful half day tour with Sorrento Star! After reading great reviews about Sorrento Star we decided to go ahead and book. I was wary of getting the right company as we were travelling with our 5 year old. I need not have had any concerns. Luisa was my email contact and she arranged everything perfectly for us and advised us where to get our attraction tickets. Our lovely driver, Massimo, met us off our ship in Naples. He had a car booster seat for my son which was much appreciated. Nothing was too much trouble : From stopping for coffee/ blasting the air con for the Irish passengers and slowing down when traffic made me nervous!! We were the first ones at the gates of Pompeii as requested. We got some wonderful pictures where it looks like we were alone on the site. It was amazing to see it in person. Massimo also drove us to some incredible photo spots around Naples. It was an incredible tour for us. I will 100% book with Sorrento Star when we return to Naples in the future and we’ll be requesting Massimo!
