Our guide was so knowledgeable about both the Castel Sant’Angelo but also other sites we could see from the rooftop. It is an easy to moderate difficulty of climbing stairs and inclines. So worth it! The views are spectacular! The history is so rich.

The castle was a fantastic place with lots of interesting history. Unfortunately the guide we had with love Rome, although very friendly, spent 2 hours telling stories about history of romans related to the castle which dragged on and not giving enough information about the castle itself. I could have walked around myself and read the info boards.

First, I was in Rome in August during the Corona, and all indoor activities were only possible with the Green Pass. Accordingly, my experience may differ from the usual operation in terms of visitor density. I had booked a guided tour at 10am via GetYourGuide for Castel Sant'Angelo. Meeting point was the main gate above where St. Angelo stands. Once there, the guide was already standing there with the sign that read "Loving Rome" in his hand. First he told us the general history of Castel Sant'Angelo. Then we went to the entrance and were checked for the Green Pass, a fibre measurement and a ticket check. Bags were not checked and I would advise taking at least a water bottle with you, as there is a drinking fountain at the entrance to Castel Sant'Angelo. The guided tour was especially about the artistic design of the rooms and how the ecclesiastical elements combine tradition and modernity. However, more general information was also given. However, the rooms are beautiful and worth a visit. At the latest, the view from the viewing platform should not be missed. The guide was very nice and you could understand him very well even without perfect English. After the guided tour, one could stay in the castle and, if necessary, look at the rooms that one had not visited as a group. Absolutely recommendable! **** Erstens war ich im August während der Corona in Rom, und alle Innenaktivitäten waren nur mit dem Green Pass möglich. Dementsprechend können meine Erfahrungen hinsichtlich der Besucherdichte vom üblichen Betrieb abweichen. Ich hatte eine Führung um 10Uhr über GetYourGuide für die Engelsburg gebucht. Treffpunkt war das Haupttor über dem St. Angelo steht. Dort angekommen, stand der Guide auch bereits mit dem Schild, auf dem "Loving Rome" stand, in der Hand. Zunächst erzählte er uns allgemein den geschichtlichen Verlauf der Engelsburg. Danach gingen wir zum Eingang und es folgte die Kontrolle des Green Pass, eine Fibermessung und eine Ticketkontrolle. Taschen wurde nicht kontrolliert und ich würde raten zumindest eine Wasserflasche mitzunehmen, da in der Engelsburg direkt am Eingang ein Trinkwasserbrunnen auf einen wartet. Die Führung handelte insbesondere von der künstlerischen Gestaltung der Räumlichkeiten und wie die kirchlichen Elemente Tradition und Moderne verbinden. Allerdings wurden auch allgemeinere Inforationen. Die Räumlichkeiten sind allerdings wunderschön und einen Besuch wert. Spätestens den Blick von der Aussichtsplattform sollte nicht verpassen. Der Guide war sehr nett und man konnte ihn auch ohne perfekter Englischkenntnisse sehr gut verstehen. Nach der Führung konnte man noch in der Burg bleiben und sich ggf. die Räume anschauen, die man als Gruppe nicht besichtigt hatte. Absolut empfehlenswert!

Wir hatten einen sehr netten Guide mit dem wir die Führung durch die Engelsburg auf englisch gemacht haben. Er hatte auch Unterlagen dabei um uns die Historie des Gebäudes so gut wie möglich erklären zu können. Er hat all unsere Fragen beantworten können.
