Corridoio Vasariano
(Pass by)
This was built by Vasari in five months to celebrate the marriage of Francesco de Medici and Joanna of Austria in 1565 and provides unique views of the city. Nearly a kilometre long, its purpose was to connect Palazzo Vecchio via the Uffizi and Ponte Vecchio with the new residence of the Medici dukes at Palazzo Pitti, in the form of a private covered passageway.
Palazzo Pitti
The last residence of the Medici Family.
The majestic Palazzo Pitti was built by the merchant Luca Pitti as an effective demonstration of his wealth and power to his rivals the Medici. In 1549, when the palace was bought by Eleanor of Toledo, wife of Cosimo I, its magnificence was increased and the beautiful Boboli Gardens were laid out behind it. It became the official seat of the Medici dynasty of grand dukes after Cosimo I moved here from Palazzo Vecchio.

We scheduled this super last minute and it might have been the highlight of our entire week-long trip in Italy. Francesco was an EXCELLENT guide who took his time to really explain all of the amazing history that was literally everywhere within the city. His passion for the art and the history of Florence made it easy to be engaged and ask questions and we ended up incredibly glad that we did this tour. Francesco's students are lucky to have him as a teacher! Thank you!!

This organization is top-notch and we really loved our tour with Monica. She’s really knowledgeable but more importantly, she knows how to deliver just the right amount of information, supplemented with engaging and memorable stories (and that she was 100 percent understandable made it al the more enjoyable!j

We loved our tour with Zeynep Arzu!!! She was very knowledgeable and friendly. She had answers for all our questions. We’ve discovered some new facts and secrets of the Medici family. Two hours of walking beautiful streets of Florence went too quickly yet eventful.

Lorenzo was excellent as he moved us around the city. His interest and passion for Florence was both charming and engaging. From his information, we were excited to plan more visits to locations he introduced us to. Florence is truly a lovely city.

EXCELENT visit! It was full of information, Giovanni was clearly in love with his city and its centuries of history! He told us a lot without giving too much names or dates. It really was a perfect visit I’ll recommend it to everyone !

This was an excellent walking tour. Thanks to Giovanni I now know how to appreciate statues, their locations, the story behind the statue, and how to try to read a statue. His explanation of statues really opened a part of me that I didn't know existed. He explained how rich and powerful families conquered cities and how they incorporated their family's transitions and goals. Whatever powerful families built they ensured their family crest was on the building. He explained how the churches were built and their purpose. I will never look at a statue again the way I did before this tours. I am really amazed at Giovanni and his inept know but I must also say he is a professor and he is passionate about art history. Anyone who is fortunate enough to have him as a tour guide will not be disappointed. Good job Giovanni
