Vatican Museums

The Vatican Museums are Christian and art museums located within the city boundaries of the Vatican City. They display works from the immense collection amassed by popes throughout the centuries including several of the most renowned Roman sculptures and most important masterpieces of Renaissance art in the world.

Admission Included

Cortile della Pigna

The Cortile del Belvedere, (Belvedere Courtyard in English) was a major architectural work of the High Renaissance at the Vatican Palace in Rome. Designed by Donato Bramante from 1506 onward, its concept and details reverberated in courtyard design, formalized piazzas and garden plans throughout Western Europe for centuries.[citation needed] Conceived as a single enclosed space, the long Belvedere court connected the Vatican Palace with the Villa Belvedere in a series of terraces connected by stairs, and was contained on its sides by narrow wings. Bramante did not see the work completed, and before the end of the sixteenth century it had been irretrievably altered by a building across the court, dividing it into two separate courtyards

Admission Included

Sistine Chapel

The Sistine Chapel ceiling, painted by Michelangelo between 1508 and 1512, is one of the most renowned artworks of the High Renaissance. Central to the ceiling decoration are nine scenes from the Book of Genesis of which The Creation of Adam is the best known, the hands of God and Adam being reproduced in countless imitations. The complex design includes several sets of individual figures, both clothed and nude, which allowed Michelangelo to fully demonstrate his skill in creating a huge variety of poses for the human figure, and have provided an enormously influential pattern book of models for other artists ever since.

Admission Included

St. Peter's Basilica

The Papal Basilica of St. Peter in the Vatican (Italian: Basilica Papale di San Pietro in Vaticano), or simply St. Peter's Basilica (Latin: Basilica Sancti Petri), is an Italian Renaissance church in Vatican City, the papal enclave within the city of Rome. Designed principally by Donato Bramante, Michelangelo, Carlo Maderno and Gian Lorenzo Bernini, St. Peter's is the most renowned work of Renaissance architecture and the largest church in the world. While it is neither the mother church of the Catholic Church nor the cathedral of the Diocese of Rome, St. Peter's is regarded as one of the holiest Catholic shrines. It has been described as "holding a unique position in the Christian world" and as "the greatest of all churches of Christendom".

This was a tour that opened my eyes to what there is to see in St Peters. I was astonished at the beautiful Sistine Chapel as also the Vatican Museums. This is a tour I highly recommend to be able to get a good understanding and view of our Holy City.

Best most memorable experience i have had. If you are in Rome I absolutely recommend. We were a family with teenagers and they managed to keep them interested through out the whole tour.

Where to begin. We did the Vatican, St. Peter’s basilica, and the Sistine chapel in 2 hours. IMPOSSIBLE. Our tour guide was running, she would stop, read the plaque (I could do that myself) she would turn around and keep going. We were a small group so she refused to use the mics , we had to be all up in her personal space to hear what she was saying. We were so looking forward to this tour, but ended up really disappointed with our guide and the experience she provided. No explanations or history for any paintings (at all) or statues. She talked a lot about preserving the things we were seeing... without explaining what the heck I was seeing. Will have to do it again someday , with a different guide definitely.

Booked this tour last minute due to other operator letting us down and was so pleased we did. Our guide Chiara was very knowledgeable about history, religion, all the popes and provided our group a fantastic tour across Vatican museums, tapestry rooms, map rooms, Sistine chapel and St Peters Basilica. I would book with this tour again and highly recommend.
