Tour del vino Brunello e Montepulciano da Cortona

Bucolic Tuscan hilltop gem somewhat overrun by rich Americans looking for romance and excellent wines, local art events, while attempting to replicate Frances Mayes book and movie “Under the Tuscan Sun.” Well worth a visit, but it is quickly becoming a tourist Mecca only and not a true Tuscan Village experience.

The trip essentially consisted of a driver taking us to 3 locations where a wine tasting was provided, 2 in Brunello and 1 in Montepulciano with a stop in Pienza. The wine tastings were good but not superior or exceptional. The driver was not knowledgeable about wines or the regions.

We absolutely loved this full day experience tasting the Nobiles and Brunellos of southern Tuscany! Partly why we chose the area as a home base, we were so hopeful for a tour that would teach us a lot about some of our favorite wines, but we got so much more than we bargained for. Nicolo picked us up from our agriturismo and we hit the road. He was a fountain of information and history about the region, that he imparted all along our many drives of the day, all of which were stunning. And our three wine stops were all a hit, all completely different settings including a castle turned vineyard, small family owned winery nestled in the hillside and an ancient wine cellar deep under the city of Montepulciano. It was awesome. We learned so much, drank some fabulous wine and would highly recommend Nicolo and his company to anyone looking to plan an authentic Tuscan experience with someone from the area.

Visited three fantastic wineries around Tuscany. Each winery provided a unique and educational experience. The wine was a wonderful taste of the region. Lunch was provided at the last winery. Niccolo was a great host who provided a wonderful overview of the region as we drove through. Pickup was on time and directly from our airbnb. Van was clean and water provided.

Our tour guide, Niccolo, was super informative and was able to tell us anything we wanted to know about Brunello wines and the entire region. He picked us up at a predetermined location and was on time. The van he drove was clean and new, and water was provided. We went to 3 wonderful wineries and sampled various wines from the Brunello region. After touring the third winery in Montepulciano, we were provided a delicious lunch in an underground wine cellar where we learned even more about the wine making process. Overall, I would absolutely recommend this tour from start to finish. Niccolo was a great host, and was super charismatic, making this an experience we will never forget. 10/10 would recommend.

My mom and I took this tour starting from Cortona. I loved that they picked us up right from our hotel and dropped us off there as well- made things very easy. The drive was comfortable and views were stunning. The wine was delicious and we learned a lot about how it's made and what makes it special. I really appreciated how nice and accommodating the people running the tour were. We really had a lovely afternoon.
