Piazzale Michelangelo

After visiting the historic center, having traveled on the banks of the river, crossed the bridges, given the majesty of Palazzo Pitti and the small artisan shops of the Oltrarno district, it is time to climb the hill and see Florence in all its splendor from a unique vantage point: Piazzale Michelangelo.

Piazza Santa Croce

Once you get off the Piazzale Michelangelo it is time to go back to the center, but before the tour comes to an end we will once again pass by the river, in front of the National Library and the enchanting square of Santa Croce. The Basilica of Santa Croce located in the square is the principal Franciscan church in Florence, Italy, and a minor basilica of the Roman Catholic Church. It is situated on the Piazza di Santa Croce, about 800 meters south-east of the Duomo. The site, when first chosen, was in marshland outside the city walls. It is the burial place of some of the most illustrious Italians, such as Michelangelo, Galileo, Machiavelli, the poet Foscolo, the philosopher Gentile and the composer Rossini, thus it is known also as the Temple of the Italian Glories. When Stendhal visited the Basilica of Santa Croce he was overcome with emotion. He wrote: I was in a sort of ecstasy, from the idea of being in Florence, close to the great men whose tombs I had seen. Absorbed in the contemplation of sublime beauty ... I reached the point where one encounters celestial sensations ... Everything spoke so vividly to my soul. Ah, if I could only forget. I had palpitations of the heart, what in Berlin they call 'nerves'. Life was drained from me. I walked with the fear of falling.

Great tour of Florence. Our driver, Santiago, gave us extra info and gave us plenty of time to look around and take photos. He also took some great photos of us as a group which we would never have gotten on our own. Can't recommend enough!!

Aldo did a wonderful job showcasing the sites of Florence and unique finds including Chiesa di San Salvatore in Ognissanti. He answered all our questions. It was a great way to kick off our stay in Florence - we would highly recommend the tour and Aldo!

A brilliant way to get an overview of Florence - An hour and a half of a very engaged guide through the piazzas and small side streets of Florence, and up to the viewing point on the hill above. A charming lady guide who really knew Florence and it's wonderful history well. Loved it!

AWESOME! We did this our first afternoon in Florence, and it was a great way to get a brief history of the city, as well as to get our bearings. Our guide, Francesco, was a blast, speaking to other guides and locals as we drove through and bringing smiles! He was wonderful at offering to take our photo at all the hot spots, and even showed us some local favorites for perfume, dinner, and gelato! We had an amazing time and would do it again!

This was a great experience! Santiago was our guide and he was prompt, courteous, and very thoughtful. We saw many important sites and the highlight was getting a view of Florence from Michaelangelo’s plaza and beyond. Highly recommend.

We had such a fun time on this tour, our guide seemed to know everyone in town as well which was entertaining. I found out later that many golf cart tour guides aren’t actually licensed, hence the recording they play at the destinations. This would take away jobs from the licensed tour guides in Italy, so I’m not sure I would do this again.

Great way to quickly see the sites. Then you can go back and spend more time in the places you prefer. I wish I did this on the first day in Florence.

Our driver was very accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable. He took his time explaining different sites and allowed us the opportunity to take pictures. As we stopped at the main attractions. It was relaxing and interesting. Be sure to confirm the meeting spot.

Very disappointing tour. The guide was hard to understand and her voice did not project at all... not even the person sitting in the front with her could hear half of what was being said. We asked several times if she could speak up to no avail. The golf cart was also a problem. It was quite cold, windy and started to rain so the guide tried to close the plastic covers, but two of the zippers didn't work... so we were all left freezing. We woukd have done better on our own!
