Fat Tire Tours - Florence

Meet your local guide in central Florence and begin your 3-hour gourmet tour of the city! Continue to an old delicatessen founded in 1885, where you’ll enjoy a panino tartufato, a delicate, truffle pâté sandwich made with the truffles for which the deli is famous. As you continue to your next food stop, listen as your guide illustrates the history of Florence’s most important squares where Florentines used to buy their food. Learn about typical local dishes and ingredients, but don’t expect detailed how to’s – Italians would never give away their secret family recipes! Your tour continues to a local wine shop, known as an enoteca, where you'll savor two Tuscan wines, accompanied by delicious regional cheeses and local meats. While you enjoy your tasting, learn about the origins of the food and wine from your guide. Top it off with something sweet at the final stop of your tour, one of Florence's best gelato shops where you’ll indulge in freshly made gelato!

San Lorenzo

To understand how Italians prepare their delicious plates, take a trip to the San Lorenzo neighbourhood, one of the main shopping centers in Florence known for fresh, locally grown ingredients. We had a great time with Brian! We were the only ones in the group, and so he spent time focusing a bit more on our interests. He shared his sommelier knowledge with us at the wine tasting shop and even shared the best places for shopping and dining. We were able to spend a wonderful evening with a specialist in the area!

On our recent trip to Florence my girlfriend and I decided the best way to see Florence was to eat it. We both work as caterers so this would add to our repertois as far as food knowledge was concerned giving us ideas and inspiration. Our main goal was to sample real italian food. Not the touristy high priced pap but food that Italians eat. Neighborhood shops where locals hang out, and this tour was right on point. Our guide Francesco made this tour an engaging lesson not only about real food but about Florence in general. Giving us the history and genesis of what we were seeing and tasteing. Our tour was organised by course starting with a lesson in aparatif where we didn't just stop at a bar and grab a drink, we had a lesson in how the aperitif came to be and a hands on aperitif making lesson where the owner led us in mixing and enjoying our first course. And so it went with every course. We walked to shops and restaurants eating and learning from Francesco and the restaurant owners who welcomed us like family into their kitchens like a chef's table episode. In our opinion Francescos knowledge and relationships with the restaurants and neighborhood made our food tour an experience we will never forget. Bravo Francesco and Bravo eatingeurope.com

A great great tour to do, informative, enjoyable (both for the tour guide and the company you will meet on a tour such as this) and you get to see A LOT in a short space of time. The food was all fantastic of course being in Italy and the guide being Italian means you wouldn't get taken to a bad place. It leaves you full of ideas of places or an area to go back to the next day afterwards and it gives you the confidence to explore a bit more and practice your Italian. Only tip I would make is to take a bottle of water with you. There's a good deal of ground covered and whilst there's plenty to eat and drink you will find yourself a bit thirsty purely because you work up a thirst packing in all the great places and great drinks and dishes. Would definitely recommend this tour.

I love food tours and I always try to do them while visiting a city. This was my first one in Florence and didn’t disappoint the expectations! We did several stops, ate different things (ham, salami, bread, pizza, pasta and others), drunk two different beers and one typical Italian cocktail (negroni). Veronica, our guide, told us about the venues and the main spots of the city; she was friendly and knowledgeable and totally recommend a tour with her. I also recommend this evening tour as Florence doesn’t offer so many activities in the night and this is a very nice way to spend an evening in the city!

This tour was lots of fun. Our guide (Marzia) was fantastic. She was very knowledgeable and showed our small group of four a great time. We got a real taste of several local establishments away from the touristic areas, including both beer and food. There was only one glitch - one of the restaurants was very busy and did not have our reservation, so we missed out on the pasta part of the tour. But there was plenty of other food and beer during the 3 hours, so we were overall very happy and satisfied.

Our leader was terrific. She took us to several brew establishments and to several places to eat! The food was incredible and the who afternoon was a pleasure.
