Mount Etna

After meeting I'll take you on a "lava desert", the lunar landscape par excellence. Walking along the paths of the highest active volcano in Europe (simple trails) I will show you the impressive volcanic structure, I will explain the history and its origin. We will walk together on some old extinct craters located on the southern slope, the most active in recent years. I will show you a lava tube with helmets and torches, we will explore the "tube" inside which the lava flowed at high temperatures. After the breathtaking view on the "Mongibello", we ll go to another panoramic point on the Valle del Bove, we will conclude with the triumph of the palate: the traditional flavors of my beloved island.

Our major goal for our visit to Sicily was to go high up Mt Etna . Thanks to our guide Saro we reached the carpark level at 1900 meters. Weather is the major factor for any visit and we had a mix of snow and high winds. Saro knows the mountain so well that he can make the day memorable in any weather conditions. We had a great experience visiting a 300 metre long lava tube, old craters, lookouts and lava fields. Had the weather been better we can only image how much better it could have been. Saro is a very experienced guide, great driver and has a wonderful personality. He knows the mountain and the local roads so well that you always feel safe with him. We highly recommend this adventure and advise you to bring gloves, beanie and an extra jacket to ensure you stay warm.

This tour was definitely the highlight of our trip to Sicily! Saro is friendly, fun, very knowledgeable and his passion in Etna made this 'not just another guided tour' type of experience. We learnt so much about Etna and had a great time. I highly recommend and you won't be disappointed.

This tour was the highlight of our 10 days in Sicily. There were just two of us so it was basically a private tour. We learned so much from Saro. He is very knowledgeable about everything including the history, farming, geology and more regarding the mountain, Catania and the surrounding area. It's very windy at 2000 meters so you'll need a windbreaker at least, even on a hot day. Going inside a lava tube is not to be missed.

Mt Etna has been on our "to do" list for so long and we finally got the opportunity to experience this 2nd most active volcano in the best way possible with the best guide possible in Saro. There are many ways that tour operators can interact with their clients but with Saro, it was more a passion than a tour. We could feel Saro's lifelong connection to Mt Etna and his explanations throughout the tour really bought My Etna and this whole area to life. Saro runs a very small tour group - maximum of 6 - we only had 4 - and this means that it is a very personal tour with ample opportunity to ask as many questions as we wanted to - and we had plenty to ask as this is such a fascinating area. If you want a real experience, experience Mt Etna with Saro.

enjoyed the enthusiasm and knowledge of our guide. also enjoyed stopping at the organic farm/cafe for a tasting at the end of the tour. he was on time for the pickup, and only downside was that his vehicle was a bit too small for how many people were on the tour...we, as older people, had a somewhat difficult time getting in and out of the far back/cramped seat. all the activities were interesting, however!

Beside the beauty of the area, it is the guide Rosario (Saro), who explains you his love with this phenomanal, natural wonder. Saro has the passion and knowledge of explaining you everything. He feels the region and let you feel it too. Defintely I am absolutely recommending everybody this tour with Saro. It is a MUST DO.

Our excursion around Mt Etna was extraordinary! Our tour guide, Saro Travato, was exceptional. His passion for geology and volcanology is evident with his enthusiasm to show us Mt Etna and educate us on every aspect. He is so kind and warm, we feel we have made a friend for life. We ended our tour at a beautiful farm for wine and snacks. We highly recommend this excursion with Saro!
