Micaela’s private tours of the Borromeo islands were perfect for my husband and me. She made complete arrangements for private boat transport to and from the islands and for a relaxed schedule to suit our needs. She provided fascinating historical, artistic, and botanical information during our time on the islands, and she was charming and considerate throughout our time together. Micaela is knowledgeable and professional, yet friendly and charming. She arranged a tour of three Borromean islands for us, describing the relevant histories of the people that built, owned, resided in and visited these extraordinary properties over the centuries. She also knows quite a bit about the plants in the gardens in and around the properties and the priceless art, furniture and collectibles housed in the structures on the islands. Great way to see a lot and learn a lot while staying near Lake Maggiore. Now we know why her tours are so popular and so highly recommended!

I contacted Micaela from Australia many months before our trip to ask her questions regarding her tour. At all times she was quick to respond and always provided a detailed response so I was confident this would be a good tour, and it was. Our expectations were exceeded. Micaela met us in our hotel lobby, and then advised our private boat and captain were waiting across the road at the hotels pier! We traveled between the 3 islands seamlessly with Micaela always making sure our boat arrived just as we finished our tour of the island. Micaela’s knowledge of the islands history, art, plants etc was phenomenal. She also has a very engaging personality and it was a pleasure to spend a day in her company. This is the most efficient and enjoyable way to see the Borromean islands, and I cannot recommend this tour more highly to you.

We enjoyed a truly delightful day of touring the Borromean Islands with Micaela. She is an exceedingly knowledgeable guide who provided insightful commentary not just on the islands and the area surrounding Lake Maggiore but also on Italian culture, cuisine, and history. We were three couples touring and the pacing and personalization of the tour was outstanding. Beyond that, Micaela is quite organized and easy to work with arranging the logistics. I simply indicated our location and preferred timing and Micaela took it from there, arranging everything. Oh, and she is totally fluent in English(and French and Italian, of course). A spectacular day. Book her and you will not be disappointed.

3 couples enjoyed a private customized tour with Micaela that was simply outstanding. I had booked with Micaela 9 years earlier with 12 of my girlfriends so I knew we would be in good hands. Via our private boat we toured the Palace and Gardens on Isola Madre, then a lovely lunch at Casabella on Isola Pescatori and then a tour of the palace on Isola Bella. Micaela shared the history of the Borromean Family and their lovely islands located on Lake Maggiore. In my opinion Lake Maggiore and Lake Orta are so much more beautiful and interesting than Lake Como. If I am the area again I will definitely engage Micaela.

Having absolutely everything organised for us was brilliant. All we had to do was turn up. Micaela is an excellent guide who speaks excellent English very clearly. We had a wonderful day from the minute we met until she escorted us all the way back into the hallway of our hotel. She even managed to stop the traffic to get us across the busy road! Her knowledge of the islands, their history and especially the plants is very impressive. The boat arrived as if by magic at each island. This trip was from Stresa, but we are hoping to visit Lake Orta next year and will definitely be in contact for another 'Micaela Experience Day Out'. *****+

Michaela is a top notch guide. She is a wonderful communicator so you know every detail of where to meet. A side note DEFINITELY pay for a private boat. It is worth every penny so that you don't have to wait in the long lines in the heat for public boats. Michaela will arrange this. Michaela takes you to the three islands on Lake Maggiore for this tour. You might think you don't need a guide but the history, stories and plant information from all over the world is fascinating. Michaela is fun, nice, smart and everything else you would want in an outstanding guide. Her English is perfect, as she used to teach English to children. I highly recommend Michaela and this tour! She's the best. (Also if you need any transfers from or to the airport, ask her about her husband David.)

My husband and I had the pleasure of taking a privately guided tour of the Borromean Islands with Michaela. We had an absolutely unforgettable day! It was amazing to be out on the lake, seeing such magnificent sights with such gorgeous weather. Michaela handled all the details to provide a seamless excursion. She was even able to arrange a private boat charter do us so we didn’t have to take public ferries. It was perfectly planned and well executed. The captain arrived at our hotel dock, just as Michaela had communicated he would. He then brought us out to fisherman’s Island for lunch, where Michaela even gave us recommendations for which restaurants to dine at. At 2:00 pm sharp, just as promised, Michaela met us at the same dock we were dropped off, and she then accompanied us to the two remaining islands, isola Bella and isola Madre. It was incredible to tour the two palaces with our own private guide. She was extremely knowledgeable and really took the time to point out all the beautiful features in tremendous detail. Other guests at the palaces enjoyed her stories so much they kept approaching us to see if they could hire her too! Nothing about the day felt rushed and we were able to go at our own pace. Would strongly recommend this tour…or any tour with Michaela. She’s 5 stars all the way!
