Our day in Orta San Giulio with Micaela turned to be a highlight of our 10 days in the Italian Lakes. Micaela arranged for her husband David to drive us there and back from our base in Stresa, as well as to drive us to the top of the Sacro Monte, which was an unexpected pleasure. Micaela’s explanations there as well as on the San Giulio island gave us a real appreciation of the history and significance of this special place. The village itself is lovely, and we enjoyed a lakeside lunch before Micaela’s private tour. She is truly a gifted guide and a charming, kind person. Book as early as you can, since Micaela is rightfully in high demand.

Our private tour of of the Sacred Mount in Lake Orta and the Island of San Giulio with Micaela began with her husband Davide picking us up from our hotel in Stresa. The tour was lovely and so informative. We stayed to eat and shop in Orta before Davide whisked us back to our hotel. I would recommend this tour with Micaela and Davide as a private driver to anyone.

We had a wonderful morning with Micaela on Lake Orta. We travelled to Lake Orta from Alba before heading back to Turin. This was the perfect break between the two. We spent about 2.5 hours touring the town + island. Micaela is incredibly knowledgable and engaging. This was one of the best tours we have ever done.

I should of dictated notes into my smartphone. Micaela has an encyclopedic knowledge of the places we toured. I know I have forgotten more than half of what she explained/taught to my wife and I . She has a wonderful, cheerful personality, and her English speaking is easy to understand. We visited Isola Bell and Isola Madre on a previous day on our own. I can't imagine how much more enjoyable it would have been (and how much more we would have learned) if we had hired MIcaila for that tour as well. HIGHLY Recommended.

"We just returned home from a two-week vacation in Italy. We have been many times and have loved all of our travels. This time, however, the highlight or our excursion was the half day tour we spent with Micaela on Orta San Giulio. She is amazing and is a walking wealth of information....... everything from the plants and animals on the island to history of the buildings, the people who inhabited the islands, art periods as well as the life and times of the many martyrs who are depicted in the frescoes and other paintings. Her English is quite polished and she is just a lovely lady. If you are looking for the best tour of this lake or any of the other Italian Lakes, you must sign up to spend a few hours or a day with her. You will NOT be disappointed. "

If you don't go on a tour with Micaela, you don't know what you are missing!! From the moment we met Micaela, I knew that this would be one of the top tours I had ever taken!! Micaela is so welcoming and wonderful, full of information about every aspect of Orta San Giulio. She started with an amazing tour of Sacre Monte just up the hill from Orta San Guilio---a beautiful World UNESCO site that we would have missed if we hadn't been with Micaela. She told us all about the history of the chapels, plenty of time for photos and wandering with ALL of our questions answered! Then we walked around the charming village with it's fascinating history, with Micaela pointing out the best shops for leather, pottery, linens, etc. It began to rain as we took the boat over to the island, and we didn't even care, so enthralled we were with listening to her stories about who lived there, stories about the artwork in the magnificent church and the history of the monastery. Her husband, Davide, was our driver from Stresa to the lake and came back at the appointed time to ferry us back again. He was delightful as well! This was the definite highlight of our trip to the Italian Lake District and should be yours!! We started the day with Micaela as our guide and ended the day as friends!! I can't say enough about how wonderful she is....she also has other tours that are amazing!! Don't miss Micaela---she is a special treasure!!!
