Remember to buy your own tickets ahead of time especially with Mt. Vesuvius. Do not expect a tour guide giving tidbits en route to each place. This is just a bus service. We were picked up on time at one of the meeting points. I understand that it would have been cheaper to take public transportation, but we did not want the headache of coordinating train and bus schedules. There are options for pick up times, we enjoyed some vino at the crater before heading down Vesuvius. We were entertained at how the drivers navigates around traffic and narrow streets, it was like Nascar bus edition. For us this was a good buy.

Terrible. They never showed up. We bought our tickets and wasted our money with them. We ended up having to buy a second set of (cheaper) tickets from their more reliable competitors. We bought Naples -> Pompeii -> Vesuvius -> Naples. We got stuck in Pompeii waiting for their bus for >1.5 hours before we caved. They said time after time after time that the last bus from Pompeii to Vesuvius was at 3 pm, 3 pm, 15:00, 15:00, 3 pm…. We were waiting from 2:40 to 4:05. Waste of money, waste of time. They finally answered their phone (after like 10 attempts), just to give us another number that wouldn’t answer. What a joke.

We found that tours booked up quite quickly for both Vesuvius and Pompei day trips Tramvia Napoli was our last hope of getting both done in a day without taking the local train and bus Decent prices and nice enough coaches

We took the bus from Amalfi town. Arrived in Pompeii efter two hours and realized that we would have no more than one and a half hours to buy tickets and explore Pompeii. Which is a too short time to explore a whole town! No time for guided tour or going in to the museum inside the area. No time to take a lunch before continuing to Vesuvius; a busride of nearly an hour again. The two hours at Vesuvius was what we needed to walk up, listen to a local guide (explaining for about a quarter of an hour about the vulcano, no time for questiones. Different languages posible.) and get down again. You have to be a bit fit and have suitable shoes to enjoy the walk though. The bus ride home took three hours; about the double time it would have taken if the busses didnt have to stop and let people off, waiting for connecting busses and returning to Pompeii to catch more people. If we hade known that we would spend so much time in the bus we would have choosen another way of getting to Pomeii and Vesuvius.

The bus promptly picked us up at 8.35. Nobody else boarded the bus. However annoyingly despite arriving at the scheduled stops on time, the bus driver would alight at the stops and have a cigarette or a chat with other tour guides. When we arrived at Pompeii we were ushered into a ticket office which was not the official one, this meant we payed an extra two euros each. The weather was quite bad so the bus driver told us we need to be back for 1pm to ensure we could go up Vesuvius. We arrived back on time and got on the bus. The driver then took us up to the volcano. The roads are quite treacherous, but the driver was still texting and taking phone calls which was not exactly reassuring. When we finally arrived at the top we were told we could not walk to the crater as it was closed. This was annoying as we could have been told this before getting on the bus, and potentially offered a change of date. This meant we had no grounds for a refund. The decision was then made that rather than waiting for the next bus back to Naples this bus would take us straight back. This would have been great however some people on the bus were from the Amalfi coast, so then it was changed that we would go back to Pompeii and they would switch to a different bus. Not the journey we had hoped for but we were on our way. However when we got back the Pompeii the decision changed again and everyone who was going back to Naples had to change buses again. We then drove all the way back to Herculaneum and Vesuvius (where we had just come from) and then back to Naples. We left Pompeii at 1pm originally and finally got back to Naples at 4.30. I would save my money in future and just use the trains. We later found out that this would have been cheaper, there is a bus which runs from Pompeii up Vesuvius for €3.50 any way. Not very well organised and they just work as they please!!!

I tryckande värme.
