Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of St. John's, start at the Market Square. Head northwest on Market Street towards Fort Road. Continue straight onto Fort Road, passing the National Museum on your left. After about 15 minutes of walking, you will reach a roundabout. Take the first exit onto the Sir George Walter Highway. Walk for another 10 minutes until you reach a fork in the road. Keep left and follow the signs towards Deep Bay. After approximately 10 more minutes of walking, you will arrive at Deep Bay Beach. Fort Barrington is located at the end of the beach, overlooking the water.

  • Bus

    From the city center, walk to the bus terminal located near the National Museum. Take a bus that is heading towards Five Islands or Deep Bay. The bus ride will take about 20-30 minutes. Ask the driver to drop you off at Deep Bay Beach. Once you get off the bus, walk towards the beach and follow the shoreline to your right. After a short walk along the beach, you will see Fort Barrington situated on the hill overlooking the bay.

    If you prefer cycling, rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in St. John's. Start at the Market Square and head northwest on Market Street towards Fort Road. Continue straight onto Fort Road, then take the first exit at the roundabout onto Sir George Walter Highway. Cycle for about 10 minutes, then keep left at the fork and follow the signs to Deep Bay. After approximately 15 minutes of cycling, you will arrive at Deep Bay Beach. Park your bike and walk to the end of the beach to reach Fort Barrington.
