From Hallstatt, walk to the Hallstatt train station (Bahnhof Hallstatt). This is about a 10-minute walk from the center of Hallstatt. Once at the station, take the train towards Bad Ischl. The train ride takes approximately 30 minutes. Get off at the Gosau area station (Gosau, Abzw. Gosausee). From here, walk for about 30 minutes towards the Vorderer Gosausee Trail, following the signs that indicate 'Gosausee' or 'Vorderer Gosausee'. The trailhead is well-marked and starts near the lake.
