    Getting There

    Walking

From the center of Mongar, head east towards the main highway (East-West Highway). As you walk, keep an eye out for local shops and eateries, which can be great for a quick snack. Once you reach the highway, turn right and continue walking. You will eventually reach a small village called Sakteng. It’s a good idea to stop and ask locals for the best route to Nubding as they can provide valuable insights. From Sakteng, follow the signs directing you toward Phobjikha Valley. The trail may vary, but it should take you around 3-4 hours of walking to reach the valley. Once in Phobjikha Valley, follow the path leading up to the Gangtey Monastery, which is perched on a hilltop and is clearly visible from a distance.

    Biking

If you are comfortable biking, rent a bicycle in Mongar and head towards the East-West Highway. Cycle towards the village of Sakteng, following the same route as mentioned earlier. The ride should take around 2-3 hours, depending on your speed and the terrain. Once you reach Sakteng, ask locals for directions to Nubding. After Sakteng, you will need to bike through scenic landscapes towards Phobjikha Valley. Upon reaching the valley, you will see the path leading up to Gangtey Monastery. Make sure to take breaks and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
