Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving, head towards Recoleta in Santiago. From the center of Santiago, take Avenida Libertador Bernardo O'Higgins (commonly known as La Alameda) and head north. Continue until you reach Plaza Italia. From Plaza Italia, take Avenida Pajaritos heading north, which will lead you toward San Cristóbal Hill. Look for signs directing you to Parque Metropolitano, where the hill is located. There is a parking area available near the entrance to the park, but be aware that parking can fill up quickly on weekends.

• Public Transportation - Metro

  To reach San Cristóbal Hill by public transportation, take the Santiago Metro to the Baquedano station (Line 1 or Line 5). Once you exit, head towards Plaza Italia. From there, you can either walk or catch a bus that takes you to the entrance of Parque Metropolitano. If you choose to walk, it’s about a 15-minute walk uphill to reach the park entrance.

• Public Transportation - Bus

  Alternatively, you can take a bus to the 'Parque Metropolitano' stop if you're near a bus route. Several lines from different parts of Santiago go directly to the park. Make sure to check the local bus schedules and routes using the 'Transantiago' app or website to find the best option based on your starting location.

• Funicular

  Once you arrive at Parque Metropolitano, you have the option to take the funicular railway, which operates from the entrance of the park. The funicular will take you up to the summit of San Cristóbal Hill. Tickets for the funicular typically cost around CLP 3,000 (about USD 4) for a round trip. It's a popular choice as it offers stunning views of the city as you ascend.

• Hiking

  For the more adventurous, you can hike up to the summit from the park entrance. There are well-marked trails that lead to the hilltop, and it takes approximately 30-45 minutes depending on your pace. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water, especially on warmer days.
