Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, head towards the Dún Laoghaire area from any location in County Dublin. Use the M50 motorway and follow signs for the N11 towards Dún Laoghaire. Once you reach the roundabout at the junction with the N11, take the exit for the R118 (Dún Laoghaire). Continue on the R118 until you reach the seafront. Look for parking options along the seafront or at nearby car parks. Note that parking may incur a fee, so check for pay-and-display options.

• Public Transport - DART Train

  For a scenic approach, take the DART (Dublin Area Rapid Transit) train from any station along the DART line that connects to Dublin city centre. Get on the DART heading towards Bray or Greystones and disembark at Dún Laoghaire station. From the station, it's a 10-minute walk to the East Pier. Exit the station, turn right onto the seafront, and follow the promenade to the pier. A standard adult ticket from Dublin city centre to Dún Laoghaire costs around €3.30.

  Alternatively, you can take a bus to Dún Laoghaire. Several Dublin Bus routes service this area, including the 7, 45A, and 75. Check the Bus Éireann or Dublin Bus websites for the most suitable route from your location. Once you arrive at the Dún Laoghaire terminus, it's a short walk to the East Pier. The fare for a single journey is approximately €2.00 to €3.00, depending on your starting point.

  If you are staying nearby, walking to the East Pier can be a pleasant option. The pier is located at E Pier, Dún Laoghaire, Co. Dublin. Follow the coastal pathways and enjoy the views of Dublin Bay as you make your way to the pier. It’s well-signposted, making navigation easy for pedestrians.
