Getting There

  • Car

    From Watamu, head north on the Malindi-Watamu road (B8). Continue for about 10 kilometers until you reach the junction to Malindi. Turn left onto this road and continue for approximately 5 kilometers. Look for signs indicating Mida Creek Welcome Center on your right. The center is located at the coordinates MXF8+M7F, Malindi. There is generally ample parking available at the center.

  • Public Transportation (Matatu)

    Take a matatu (shared minibus) from the main matatu stage in Watamu heading towards Malindi. The fare should be around 50-100 KES (Kenyan Shillings). Inform the conductor that you want to get off at Mida Creek; they will drop you off at the nearest point. From there, you will have to walk approximately 1 kilometer to reach the Mida Creek Welcome Center. Follow the signs or ask locals for directions, as they will be familiar with the area.

  • Bicycle or Walking

    If you are feeling adventurous, you can rent a bicycle in Watamu and cycle towards Mida Creek. Follow the Malindi-Watamu road (B8) until you reach the junction to Malindi, then turn left and continue for about 5 kilometers. Once there, you will need to walk the last bit to the center, as it might not be accessible by bike. Alternatively, walking directly from Watamu will take about 1.5 hours, following the same route as the driving directions.
